Bagatelle is a first rate dining experience in a cool, off beat part of Montréal. For two Anglophones who love French bistro dining, Max, the senior waiter, could not have been more kind about my rusty French or helping us find the perfect place (next door) to purchase the best bottle of wine to enjoy the bistro's BYOB policy. We devoured the soup of the day, stacked salad, cream of carrot and our entrees, one veal flank and one filet mignon. Both came with seasonal vegetables and we agreed that the filet's potatoes were best described as "scalloped". We ordered a dessert to share and instead of thinking of it as lemon pound cake with cream and fruit coulis, it was a 21st century version of "lost cake" something a grand-mére would put together with say old cake. Regardless of the name, we finished it off with fresh coffee. We hope to return again and perhaps sit inside next time and take in all the Québecois ambience. Thank you, Max you are a gem!

We accidentally stumbled upon this place, as we were in the area and were looking for a place to dine. There were no seats, but they went above and beyond in checking if there would be any available soon, and lucky enough, we were seated within 10 minutes. I have to say I have yet to experience a better service in Montreal, than we've received from Dave, our host. He was knowledgeable, always there for us, gentle in giving advice, and overall a delight. I loved the food, a traditional menu with a modern twist, my duck was superb, goat cheese was lovely too. My boyfriend was curious about the black pudding, but didn't want to take it as a main dish, so Dave was kind enough to offer to order it as an entree, which was a great solution. It will definitely be the place I'd come back to, "bring your own wine" policy makes it perfect for a dining out option if you're into higher end cuisine, but don't want to spend $250 per person with wine.

Hidden gem in Montreal! We ordered the lamb and the fish, and honestly — it was the best meal I’ve had in a long time. The lamb was incredibly tender, cooked to perfection, and packed with flavor. Both meals came with a choice of soup or salad, and even those sides were delicious — fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The fish was also perfectly cooked, with a nice balance of textures and subtle, layered flavors that really impressed me. Every part of the plate had intention — nothing felt rushed or generic. Overall, Bagatelle Bistro delivered not just great food, but a memorable dining experience. I would absolutely recommend it, especially if you're looking for a BYOW spot with top-tier cuisine.

Bagatelle restaurant offers a cozy and inviting atmosphere that makes for a pleasant dining experience. The service provided by the waitstaff is truly outstanding, and the restaurant's location adds to its appeal.

The waiters and waitresses are in a good mood and create an upbeat atmosphere. However, my experience with the food left something to be desired. The prices seemed on the high side for the quality of the dishes. For example, the salad appeared as if it had been taken straight from a box and dressed with a basic vinegar sauce. The filet mignon, while cooked to a perfect medium, lacked proper seasoning. The French fries had a promising appearance, but they turned out to be disappointingly mushy and not the crispy, golden fries one would expect.

One redeeming aspect of Bagatelle is that they allow you to bring your own wine, which can help offset the overall cost. Nevertheless, I found the food pricy, especially given the quality, make it difficult to justify a return visit

In summary, Bagatelle excels in ambiance and service, but the steep prices for the food may leave you searching for better value dining...
