One thing that people should know is that quantity does not equal quality and I hope the owners of this restaurant figures this out. We were in the area this past weekend and decided to stop in. My wife and I both ordered a panini with duck, tomatoes and cheese. We also had a large flat white and a large Americano. First of all, the sizes of the drinks were ridiculous! The Americano came in a half litre mug and my flat white was in a big bowl with no handle, I needed two hands to lift it, I have a photo with a credit card for size reference. It was such a waste because both drinks were so bad we eventually left most of it. My panini was overly toasted which destroyed the roof of my mouth and the soup that came with it was bland and cool. Our meal here was such a disappointing end to a great Montreal visit.

Hoche Café was a Google discovery brought about by a desperate search for a matcha late in Montréal from somewhere that wasn't Crapbucks or Just Say No To A Second Cup. So a 20 minute bike ride later a mate and I arrived here where I ordered a matcha latte which was served in a bathtub... no complaints. The drink itself was pretty good but I wasn't impressed by the brownie which I believed lacking in flavour. I would definitely order another matcha latte and coffee, but I would skip the brownie unless they improve it with either the addition of chili flakes, orange zest or switching out some of the coco power with dark chocolate. Friendly staff + good atmosphere + a good drinks = an overall good experience. 17 août 16

The Canard Café is awesome! They have a menu full of healthy and delicious options for breakfast, lunch or dinner (soups, sandwiches, rice bowls and more) and their pastries and cookies are will satisfy your sweet tooth, too! The peanut butter cookies and carrot cake cupcakes are my favourites... yum! Their coffee in-house coffee is well-made and they also have a wide selection of beans (many roasters I haven't seen elsewhere) to buy for home as well. ☕ And finally the service is always so friendly and welcoming. They even put up with my very poor French... I really appreciate the chance to practice! Can't wait until I can return to working from the café post-COVID. It's a really wonderful neighbourhood spot!

I recently visited Canard Café in Montreal with my partner for lunch, and we had a decent experience. My partner ordered the ham sandwich on a baguette, and I opted for the goat cheese salad. While the food was good, it didn't stand out as anything exceptional.

I also ordered a cortado, which was enjoyable, but I did notice a few issues in the coffee preparation process. It was disappointing to see that they didn't use a scale to ensure precise espresso dosing. Additionally, the barista's steaming technique seemed improper and caused the milk to "scream," which can be detrimental to the machine. Furthermore, the barista's lack of constant hand contact with the pitcher for temperature judgment was a letdown. Lastly, the espresso was tamped using improper technique, lacking the even bed leveling before tamping and a 90° angle tamp.

In summary, Canard Café provided a decent meal, but the coffee preparation could use some improvements for a more...
