I was pleasantly surprised when visiting for the first time. I had expected the bright, clean and modern decor as they are a newer location (I have been going to the original location for many years, and others on occasion), but what really took me by even bigger surprise was the friendliness of the staff who were very welcoming --- the good cheer and smiles, were appreciated.
Now of course how could one not mention the food. You never know with a newer location - if it will be the same, better or worse than the original. In this case, again another tasty surprise; the flavour of the items on the veggie platter were notably beyond expectations. I won't mention if an item was better or worse than the original, but will say all were enjoyable and fresh.
From the potatoes, to the hummus, shredded cabbage, turnips, grilled eggplant and more --- each had it's own memorable distinction. Again, I don't want to play favourites, so I'll summarize by saying I'm glad I had leftovers...
PS Roumany even warmed up the omelets (a nice touch) which are better that way in my opinion.
PPS The falafel was moister and more...
Read moreThe service is worst here. People here treat customer with disrespect. I had ordered food online for pickup, but I got there after 15-20 minutes, they hadn't even started preparing my food. They told me that there was no notification sound, so they missed my order, which defy the whole point of ordering online for pickup. Since they hadn't started yet and i had to catch a bus, i asked to cancel the order and refund the money. Initially they declined to cancel and return money. After requesting, they were returning money, but not the tax on the order. I asked that if i am cancelling the order, i am supposed to get all money back, including the tax. And they declined to return my tax money on the order. They treated me with disrespect and i had to really fight for my money back, when it was their mistake to not prepare my food in the first place. In the time it took me get the money back, i missed my bus and had to wait extra 30 minutes in cold outside for the next bus. They were really disrespectful especially after messing...
Read moreThe price of a Boustan wrap meal has gone up from less than 15 bucks to 20, so it's forty bucks for two people, plus tip and tax it's closer to 50... for two wraps, a drink and potatoes... which is regrettable, but somewhat predictable, as inflation doesn't seem to stop, however this is also dependant on the greed of the company if it seems like it's gone up too much. I don't have that info, couldn't say if that's what's happened with Boustan.
However what's really the worst part of it is the quality; it's far worse than it ever was when I first moved to Montreal. The taste, and ingredients have taken a hit in quality, and I don't know if maybe they just had a particularly bad day this time, but it has been really underwhelming the past three times I've been. This is gonna be the last time I ever eat Boustan, and I never thought I'd say that haha, but they used to be a staple for decently priced, good food... and now there's just no reason to go. What a shame, let's hope the future...
