Miami Deli, right in the heart of Centre-Sud on Sherbrooke Street, is as classic Montreal as it gets. Whether you’re after a solid breakfast or a late-night bite, this spot always delivers. The staff here are absolute stars. They greet you like an old friend and make you feel like you’re their favorite customer every single time. Their friendly vibe and attention to detail set the tone for why this place feels so special year after year. Let’s talk poutine—Miami Deli serves one of the best in the city. It’s a true Montreal staple. I know, purists might raise an eyebrow, but I always swap the cheese curds for mozzarella. Call it sacrilege if you want, but trust me, it’s a game-changer. Located just uphill from Mutoide Microbrewery (check them out if you haven’t already!) and a few steps up the hill from Préfontaine Metro, Miami Deli is the perfect stop for comfort food fans and night owls alike. This place captures the essence of an old-school Montreal deli—quirky decor, welcoming people, and food that hits the spot every time. Whether it’s for a big breakfast or a late-night indulgence, Miami Deli is the kind of spot that keeps you coming back.

We honestly stumbled upon this place by accident. Having finished the light show in the jardin botanique, we drove around for a restaurant opening late, and Lo and behold, Miami Deli emerged all bright and shiny! Open 24h!!!!! At 22:30, it was still packed! It’s a huge place too with a gigantic menu serving literally everything from pizza to Greek souvlaki to Chinese food??!! And their breakfast menu is simply divine. We had their classic poutine, chicken souvlaki, a club sandwich and calamari. Even the black coffee is great, no refills though. 🙃 The waitress was an elderly lady with friendly and super sweet! Reminds me of those cynically delicious career waitresses from the western diners in the desert. While our French was not strong enough to make quips, we appreciated her enthusiasm and smiles. The decor is a landmark of its own!!! Very colourful and whimsical. Anyway, whether craving for breakfast, brunch, or late night snack, Miami Deli is your best bet!

We came here on a Saturday evening looking for a dinner place and spotted this diner. The diner is 24 hours/7 days a week. This restaurant is not your typical diner as their menu is quite extensive with an assortment of sandwiches, pastas, burgers, pizza, steak, and they even have Chinese food!! I ordered the fettucine fruits de mar which comes with mushroom, scallops, shrimp and crab in a béchamel sauce. Fettucine was alright- I felt it was too much sauce in the dish. Seasoning was good and the portion is quite big. The dish also comes with garlic bread and a garden salad with this Thousand Island dressing. Both were okay. Our server was alright but kept forgetting parts of our order. The good part of this place is that they definitely have a huge menu of foods to choose from. Overall, a decent place to grab some grub for dinner or a late night snack.

1-Avoid unless you like the idea of the food someone else touched and bit being resold to you (The details: for the hundredth time, once I took a bite of my meal, I realized it was the opposite of what I’d ordered-when I called back to ask them to rectify the problem, they grudgingly admitted it was their error and sent a delivery person with a replacement. Upon arriving and looking at the giant sandwich missing a tiny bite, the driver angrily said “You took a bite! How are we going to sell this to someone else?!” I was stunned! I replied “You would sell food that I touched and did god knows what else with to an unsuspecting, paying customer? What if I loaded it with COVID, broken glass, and bodily fluids?!”. Apparently, it’s a risk they’re willing to take. 2-Avoid unless you like being treated like garbage by a business that always had your undeserved loyalty. (Details: In spite of less than stellar food, and even lesser politeness from the staff, I used to order from them several times a week, because they are the only restaurant with all night delivery that doesn’t use Uber Eats. So, one night, after having known me as a regular client for a year, when the delivery person arrived, the card reader didn’t work. I tried to find cash and found $23 and not the $25.50 needed. I live reasonably close and offered to bring the missing change the next morning. The driver, the people who answer the phone, and finally the manager all said “too bad!”. They preferred to throw the food out rather than to allow a loyal customer and generous tipper to enjoy a meal. I guess they were excited to resell the meal to someone who might order it a few hours later. The cook could simply reheat it under his armpit…. Seriously, avoid unless you like eating other peoples’ leftovers. Oh yeah….they’re racists and antisemites. I’ve heard them making nasty slur-filled comments regarding Blacks and Jews on...

OMG North Americans, how come you can say food here is delicious! LOL, where are your standards!, man I went there with friends for dinner near 9:30PM, first I asked to be seated in a place that looked cool, the ladies were not friendly at all as they actually said no because they wanted to clean, there were people just next, I insisted and finally they said yes. it's like when people hate you, at least they tell you, but when they just do not care about you as a customer is even worse!, that's this place. Well then the menu is just your average North American hamburgers+fries+pizza and some pasta stuff, Ok that's fine I didn't expected nothing more sophisticated as long as it's well cooked I was fine, that wasn't the case, the spaghetti was not properly made, the salad looked REALLY OLD, the Sangria was way below average and everything looked really cheap but the prices weren't as cheap as they could be for a place like this. The 2 stars are just for the cool decos.. Tip of the cake, we asked if we could have some MIAMI Style music, I mean, anything more tropical/latin OR FUN to be coherent with the theme of your place they just said ¨no, it's not possible¨, and in the radio there was this boring 80s Quebec rock, like maaaan you can make a better effort for a place like this. There are far better options in Montreal if you want to eat well and have a cool experience where they treat you...
