I ordered on Uber Eats. Overall the food was good and the portions for MOST things were fair, 3/5. Very fair price for samosas. I do not recommend ordering delivery from here, they do not know how to package food, it was leaking everywhere. There was also a hair in my food, the naan was burnt, and the salad they gave me is possibly the saddest looking thing I have ever seen in my life.
Details: Some cons… There was a short black hair in my curry chicken (see pic), so I assume people are not wearing hair nets and/or do not bother wearing a net for their beard(s) here. Really disgusting, I won’t be ordering again for that alone.
We had to throw out a quarter of the garlic naan because it was totally burnt (see pic).
They packaged this food extremely poorly on all levels… when it got here, the bottom of the bag was completely soaked (see pic) something I didn’t notice until after setting the bag on the floor in my home. The reason this happened is because one of the dishes was packaged in a foil crinkle-close container with a paper lid, which does not close tight enough to prevent leakage. The other three dishes were packaged in plastic containers that were too small for the portions we were given, and those were then stacked on top of the flimsy crinkle-close container. Obviously it leaked everywhere, and so did the other containers because they were too full. This issue could have easily been avoided had they picked appropriately sized containers and then placed the crinkle-close dish on top… It’s like whoever packed this would put eggs in the bottom of their grocery bag and then stack other food on top. Lacking common sense.
Lastly, the salad was just pathetic… for $6.99 plus tax I expected more than a pinch of lettuce (see pic). This was supposed to be the mixed vegetable salad, but contained only a meager amount of limp lettuce, a bunch of red onion, and a few cucumber slices. There are endless recipe results on google for “Mixed Vegetable Salad” and I assure you none of them look like this! Outrageous price, I’m actually in a bit of shock, none of my friends could believe this either lol. What a rip off. 0/5 👎👎👎
Anyways, I also ordered the following:
Chicken Manchurian… this crispy-coated sweet chicken in a hot-spicy sauce with green pepper and red onion was pretty good. I liked the texture of the chicken but I wish they were broken up a bit more, the larger pieces were dry inside. I ordered this for my partner who doesn’t generally go for Indian food and they liked it. 4/5👍
Beef Vindaloo… This wasn’t my favorite but it wasn’t bad. The beef was tender, and the spice wasn’t overwhelming, it stayed on my tongue so felt pretty mild. I believe the other ingredients were potato and onion although the potato chunks were a little confusing… they looked like carrot, I had been expecting sweet potato, and yet tasted like regular potato! 2/5
Soya Malai Chaap… This one was very good, I hadn’t ever had Soya Chaap before and I really enjoyed the texture and taste. The sauce was sweet and creamy, with onions and green pepper. It was very oily/greasy which I disliked but otherwise delicious. 4.5/5 👍👍
Coconut Curry Chicken… This was the dish I found a hair in. After plucking that out and inspecting the rest of the food, I dug in anyways. I was expecting to taste the coconut but I almost couldn’t tell that there was any at all, the very slight cream taste was balanced well with the level of spice. Onions were the only vegetable I noticed in the curry sauce. It definitely had that satisfying curry flavour I was craving when I made the order. 2.5/5
Other than that, the parts of the garlic naan that weren’t burnt were very good. It is garnished with cilantro but neither me or my partner who hates cilantro could taste it. 3.5/5
We usually struggle to find dishes that aren’t overwhelmed by the taste of cilantro but everything we got from here was just fine in that regard.
Hopefully they get better at packaging delivery orders and tighten up the rules around hygiene, but I’ll be onto the next...
Read moreWe decided to stop by this place for a quick lunch gathering since it wasn't crowded during lunch hours, and the affordable price for the buffet caught our attention. However, we were disappointed with the limited food options available on the buffet, and it seemed that about half of the items were not fresh. Despite this, we did find the naan bread to be fresh and delicious, and the meat was passable. Unfortunately, the rest of the dishes didn't meet our expectations.
Another downside was that we had to ask for water and extra naan bread, even though we were the only customers in the restaurant at that time. Additionally, there were only a few dessert options left on the shelf, which wasn't sufficient for our table. When I politely asked if there were more available, I was informed that there were none.
Overall, our dining experience was not the best, and we left feeling unsatisfied with the food selection and service. However, we understand that these things can happen occasionally, and we'll take...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Patiala Shahi in Montreal, and the experience surpassed all expectations. The flavors of the food were unparalleled, showcasing a level of authenticity that outshone any other Indian restaurant I've tried in Ontario. From the perfectly spiced curries to the aromatic tandoori delights, each dish was a culinary masterpiece.
In comparison to Ontario's Indian restaurants, Patiala Shahi stands as a culinary gem, providing a delightful journey through the rich flavors of Indian cuisine. I wholeheartedly recommend this establishment for an unparalleled...
