Cozy little place with very friendly staff, oh and the food is out of this world. Their fish and seafoods are top notch. You can really taste how fresh every ingredient is. What's more, many of their sauces and condiments are designed and prepared in house, which gives their dishes their very own unique taste. The variety of signature flavors are sure to satisfy any palette. Every bite is prepared with love. You can tell the chefs and owner care about the experience they deliver. My favorite roll is the Sunshine. It was packed with so many different delicate notes of sweet, tangy, tender, buttery, light crisp with a hint of I believe was shizo. Pure Umami. I can't wait to return. It'll probably be soon. If not, it'll be take out. Because we're already craving for a taste if Sawa!

It was the best sushi place, but something has changed, I always ordered from here during the pandemic. Everything was fresh and good quality. My last order was pretty much a joke. The new staff is not friendly, and most importantly, the food is low quality for the price paid, both the tuna and the salmon were barely edible, definitely not fresh, fishy smell, and very salty. Some of the rolls were made in a rush, the avocado was not fresh either, I was not expecting that. The sauce changed too, it was before an amazing sesame sauce, it is now something that seems too salty and sour. The first 3 photos are taken last time. For comparison, I added 2 more photos from 2020. I understand inflation makes things harder for everyone, but the quality should be the same.

Maybe due to their 50% deal for their 1 year anniversary, it seemed the timeliness and quality were not up to par. We ordered for 5pm and waited 30min for the order. It was tasty but the sushi rice was not sticky enough or some rolls were falling apart or squished in box. We enjoyed the special pink rolls with shrimp or salmon with wafu sauce though.

I showed up on a Monday evening at 8:55PM, nothing nearby was open. I saw some people happily eating in the dining room and I saw they had a high rating on Google. I decided to give them a chance.

The menu looked just like any other sushi/poke place. I asked for a recommendation and they said "tuna poke". I was skeptical but decided to go ahead with their recommendation.

The chef and cashier really seemed to go above and beyond to wow all the customers present: the 3 who were eating in their dining room and 4 (including me) who were getting takeout. They happily accommodated vegetarian/vegans, regulars and newcomers alike in the 10 minutes I was there.

I ended up paying 18.40$ plus tip for the best tuna poke I ever had and I'm saying that as someone who doesn't even like tuna. The avocado was just perfect. So was the sweet wasabi sauce.

I think this is one of those places where you could just go in, get whatever the chef wants to feed you and you'll be really satisfied - the best part is that it's not a snooty chichi place so you can...

My wife and I ordered Sawa Sushi last night through Uber Eats. We chose one of the chef's assortments and a couple extra rolls. The price and the overall quality were both quite good. This is definitely some of the best inexpensive sushi in the neighborhood. That said, a couple things were really disappointing.

We ordered a special roll with torched tuna (4pcs for about $9). It was delicious but so small, particularly the pieces of tuna, for the price. Finally, the chef's special came with 5 pieces of Nigiri, two of which were ebi (cooked shrimp and always the cheapest piece of nigiri), while another two were smoked salmon. It was incredibly disappointing to be served smoked salmon nigiri, and unfortunately it was just gross.

We will be ordering again in the future, but will probably stay away from the...

Sharing an amazing, first time pickup order experience at Sawa during the pandemic. Firstly, the sushi's amazing! Ordered 10 different items for takeout and was more than satisfied with each and every one, particularly the specials. Afterwards found out we hadn't received one item, tuna sashimi, and to our pleasant surprise, the team and co. went above and beyond to quickly resolve the situation! Yes, we waited 10-15 minutes longer than had expected but when there's 50% off entire menu, delays are expected. Professionalism/ customer service: impeccable. Quality of food: among the best sushi in Montreal. Will definitely order again from Sawa in the near future

edit: Look, this mom-and-pop resto may need logistic changes to handle high influx of orders, but when fixed the quality of the food...
