Hello to anyone reading my review. Recently, my friend and I were looking for a cozy spot to catch up over brunch, and since I live on the Island of Montreal, I did some research to find a place that felt warm, cozy, and inviting. My search led me to Vieux Vélo, a little bistro just north of Little Italy, known for its eggs benedict.
From the moment we arrived, we fell in love with the atmosphere. The restaurant has a welcoming charm, and we were quickly attended to by a friendly waitress. We ordered coffee and, of course, the famous eggs benedict.
The service was impressively fast, and since we were both famished, we dove right into our meals. I'm happy to confirm that these eggs benedict are indeed among the best I've had in Montreal (perhaps even the best!). The sauce was perfectly cooked, the eggs were just right—not too hard, not too runny—and the ham added a delightful layer of flavor to the dish. The accompanying salad had a delicious, slightly sweet dressing that perfectly contrasted the savory eggs. The potatoes were good, better than most places, but the star was definitely the eggs benedict.
As a sweet finish, I ordered a Cava cocktail (sorry, I can’t remember the name), and since my friend was driving, she opted not to drink. To our surprise, when my cocktail arrived, the waitress brought my friend a mocktail on the house. We were floored by the kindness and thoughtful gesture.
I will definitely be returning to Vieux Vélo, and I plan to bring as many friends as I can, because those eggs benedict are absolutely delicious.
Thank you for taking the time to read my review. I hope to see you at Vieux Vélo soon!

Don’t know who wrote the previous reviews, but if “Cozy” means sitting in an open doorway with minus 10 degree weather breezing in while you eat, then yes, it’s cozy. “Short wait time” they mention is definitely wrong. I waited over one hour outside today in the cold to be seated by a person who lied about the seating sequence, the wait time, the order of who gets tables when. They have favorites. Four people arrived to give their name 20 minutes after us and sat down 10 minutes later. The food was ok, but lacked finish. For the $100 I paid for 2 burgers and 2 egg benedict with coffee, they could have shown a little more respect than hurriedly presenting the check and removing everything off the table before we even finished our meal. Before we were seated, from my view outside in the breezy cold weather, while I waited, I could see the people seated at our sooner or later to be table before us, taking their time showing photographs and reminiscing for a half hour after they had finished their meal. The worst part about this experience was the lies the placer told me a half hour before we sat down. She categorically told me the table we were destined for had gotten their check and had paid, and it was a matter of minutes before they left. Little did she know my wife was inside the small restaurant standing and saw the check only arrive at the table a half hour later. This “Cozy”, is not a serious enterprise. It’s a disorganized agglomeration of few tables and inexperienced staff. Definitely...
Read moreWorst place in town! Well, I had to read some previous comments about this place more carefully. We were visiting the city during Grand Prix weekend and decided to stop at this place for breakfast. I specifically asked the waitress about a waiting time (as we were heading to F1 race) and she assured me that the waiting time will not take more than 20 min. It took almost an hour! We noticed that they let groups of 2 in without any waiting time and suggested to them to put two tables together to minimize the wait time for groups more than 2 and improve their customer service. As a result of this extremely negative experience, we didn't tip them at the end of the service. The waiter with a metal triangle piercing in her nose, became very angry and even aggressive! She grabbed the water and our glasses from our table and told us that we need to leave the place immediately! I really hope that the management of this place will read my comments and take the right action. You cannot create artificial waiting lines as a free advertisement of your place. You also should be careful with who you hire and need to be aware of what's going on in your place in your absence. This place is the shame to the city...
