Giving 2 stars because the owner Malina seems like a genuinely good person and I was refunded for this mess...
However, my hair is absolutely butchered after having Alexandra work on it. I entered the salon with 3 years of previous highlight work from a higher end salon in a different country. They would always foil my hair and gradually got me to a nice level of blonde.
I really struggled to find a good salon since moving to Montreal and put A LOT of research (and trust) into google reviews. I finally settled on Gamme. At this point I had about 1 year of regrowth to give my hair some time from damaging it further from the bleach.
When I entered the salon my hair was down to my lower back and when I left the salon it was barely past my shoulders and half the thickness. Instead of foiling my hair Alexandra decided to apply bleach all over my head completely... no technique, no foils.. just bleach all over like any of us could do at home.
She went over all previously highlighted hair and just bleached away. The whole time she seemed more concerned with talking about gossip in her life rather than focusing on my hair. I thought she was friendly so I didn't mind chit chatting but when I realized she was not even paying attention or caring about my hair it started to annoy me.
After 8 hours of bleaching/toning/drying my hair, the great reveal was a mess of yellow pee blonde roots to about 4 inches down for it to change to a harsh line dividing it into a copper orange color. A harsh line dividing a mix of 5 different colors which all are muddy and ugly. Of course she was smiling and pretending like it's just part of the process, I voiced that I didn't like the spots in my hair, her solution was to tone it a second time to the orange color to make it match, I said no I don't want that color and she told me she would tone it a blonde that's neutral and would make it match but she wanted to cut it first.
After chopping off a bunch of hair as well as more than 6 inches of my hair was falling she tried to throw a towel over the hair on the floor to hide it and she was throwing the hair that was coming out from my head onto her brush to the side to hide that too. Then she tones it and kept suggesting that I should let her put curls in my hair even though I didn't want curls. She says she wanted to do it for her instagram story (but now I know it was to try to hide the mismatch colors).
At the end I could visibly see it was and orange mess, I still paid out of pure shock but even my optimistic boyfriend couldn't cover his pure shock of why anyone in a salon would do that to someone's hair and let them walk out like that.
When I got home I realized she even cut the hair uneven, she never parted it down the middle when she did cut it, it was more like her chopping and hacking away in a panic to hide her botched job. I honestly sit here wondering how this girl ever became a hairstylist.
I would never suggest anyone to go to her if you go to this Salon. I feel bad leaving the review because Malina was so nice but I CANNOT let anyone go through this. At minimum it'll cost me thousands to fix but mostly it's cost me not being able to go out in public or feel good about myself, years of hair growth lost and probably will have to go back to dark hair that I can't dye blonde for years as well. Worst hair experience of my life.

Read moreI go to My Hanh every 6 weeks for my touch up. I absolutely love her and she is amazing.
I first went to her a couple months back. I moved to MTL a few years ago and wasn't able to find a hairdresser that would best suit my asian hair. I was also afraid due to me getting terrible hairdressers in the past from different cities I moved to considering my hair is blonde and needed maintaining. I've always had it ruined by multiple hairdressers. I only trusted the one I had in Ottawa and never went anywhere else due to that fear. I had to tackle that fear though a few months ago as I realized I will be in MTL full time and needed a hairdresser I could trust and go to regularly.
I found Salon Gamme through TikTok and took my chances with My Hanh. My initial visit with her was a consultation to check and see if my hair elasticity can take the bleach blonde I was hoping to achieve. From going to a balayage with some brown tones to fully blonde, she wanted to make sure my hair wouldn't be damaged. I did a strand test and it went really well and she was extremely attentive and I could tell she is also a realistic hairdresser not making empty promises and managing expectations. I had felt like I could trust her immediately from that consultation.
Fast forward to my first appointment going from slightly brown balayage to fully blonde and I do not regret it. My Hanh is extremely attentive and careful and worked really hard for 7 ish hours to get my hair to the full blonde it is now. She made sure to check up on me regularly and made sure my hair was doing well. She managed to get my hair fully platinum blonde with no damage. She even offered me snacks and coffee during my appointment.
Now, I go to follow ups every 6 weeks to get my roots touched up and I enjoy it everytime. She is so talented and super nice and fun to talk to! She listens to what I want and does it effortlessly. My hair looks amazing with her doing it blonde and I will keep going back. Prices are also affordable given the services they do.
The actual salon is extremely modern and stylish and super clean. The other hairstylists are also very nice and will make conversation with you. Usually I am My Hanh's last customer so the other hairdressers will come chat with us which is super nice! :)
I highly recommend this salon especially for Asian hair. Even if you don't have asian hair too. I have found a salon that can actually cater to my asian hair type, and that knows how to deal with it (dye, bleach, cut, and style). Thanks My Hanh for your talent and continued service!
( my photos are taken a few days after my hair was done. as you can see, my hair looks healthy even with the full blonde. My Hanh does deep conditioning treatments everytime, with me also following up myself with my own treatments. Keep in mind, personal maintenance is also key with making sure you hair stays looking healthy! My Hanh helps the process every appointment too which...
Read moreFirst time going to Gamme. I rarely leave a review but I felt this time I had to since the price was almost 400$ (including the tip) for a color removal and haircut. The reception was good and the place looks clean and cozy.
The hairdresser who did my hair today was skilled but I wish there was more attention given and more communication about the process. It is partly my fault because I don't talk much or at all (except when asked a question) due to anxiety and I enjoy minding my own business and let professionals do their things during sessions but the fact that I wasn't asked which tone I wanted at any point during the session feels odd to me. I actually wanted a ashier or cooler tone and I was asked after the fact if I liked the color but I felt it was too late to mention it. Also it was mentioned that my hair was damaged since I already had the end of my hair bleached but there was no feedback on what I should do and use to help it for the next session, not like I asked either but would have been appreciated especially after a bleach session.
For the haircut, I was asked to show a picture and I felt there was barely any attention given to it and I wasn't asked to show more so I assumed they knew what I wanted. Almost only the length was worked on but the styling seemed ignored. I'm not very knowledgeable about hair so I couldn't really explain what I wanted but I could show it. My girlfriend later was like if the hairdresser paid any attention or asked for more pictures they should of realized that I wanted something more like a wolf cut. I don't know, again, partly my fault since myself I'm not too good at communication with strangers and I didn't know the name of the cut. At least, the haircut was fast.
Not an horrible experience but not the friendliest either. I'm not totally dissatisfied with the result considering how little communication there was but I wish that there was more attention given overall since I kind of wanted something different both for the tone of the blonde and the haircut.
I would maybe recommend this place for people that are more assertive and more extroverted than I am but for someone like me it was not the best experience. I was under the impression that the person was rushing it but I always give the benefit of the doubt since I'm not the expert.
Edit: I want to add that I also got a small patch of hair stuck in dried bleach plus some leftover behind the ears since it was not...
