Shoshur Bari — Restaurant in Montreal

Extremely disappointed again and again. When Shoshur Bari opened for the first time last year, I was excited. We went there physically and ordered Tehari and pulao with beef curry. There is no authenticity taste of Bangladeshi in the food. Too oily, to be specific, the cook used Mustard oil in every dishes. Even in salads. My husband and I fell sick after going home. Our stomachs were upset followed by diarrhea. We did not mind and thought of not giving a negative review as they were new and promised won’t eat there again! But after several months later, when they re-opened and offered chicken briyanj for $5 , we said they need to have a second chance. Food was average and okay as per the price we paid. We decided to order again today 12/4/2020. We ordered Kachi and roast pulao. Again a huge disappointment ! The kachi’s rice felt like plastic and has an odd smell. Nothing like i had before in Dhaka or any auntie’s house. The roast pulao was decent not gonna lie but below average for what I paid. I felt like my money went completely wasted and after giving 3 chances, i rest my case here. You want to taste authentic Bangladeshi food, go to Appayon honestly. They charge more but the food is worth it.

Morog pulaou - I felt as if I was eating sugar - 20/100

Lassi - I felt as if I was drinking water - 20/100

Shrimp was overpriced. Don't mind paying high price, but pls increase your quantity.

NOW THE MOST IMPORTANT ONE Kacchi - It only had one big potato, 1 alur chop, 1 SINGLE PIECE OF MEAT. I really mean it. I literally received just 1 SINGLE MEAT. Kacchi was sinking in oil. Again, I don't mind paying whatever you guys charge but pls DON'T SERVE JUST 1 SINGLE MEAT AND OIL. A BIG ZERO OUT OF 100. 0/100

SUGGESTION: My suggestion will be to improve your food quality. Don't forget you have a great competitor located 1 min away from your restaurant. Good decoration and customer service will not help you in the long run.

Staffs are nice. But the owner has got serious issues. We would eat there 3/4 times a week until today. We ordered a delivery today, he took the payment through e-transfer. After receiving the delivery, the owner called me interrogating why we didn't tip the driver. I tried to explain him that the tip is an optional thing and we're students. He can't just call back and interrogate us like that. I told him we're regular customers and we always tip whenever we're eating in there. He kept on arguing for 11 minutes over a tip! Then, he started being aggressive and threatening us sayin, " YOU DON'T KNOW WHO YOU'RE TALKING TO, JUST WAIT AND WATCH, YOU'LL SEE" I have already reported this incident to the police. We looked up the reviews of his restaurants online and found multiple bad reviews. One review literally said he called a customer to take down their review or else they will abduct them???
