Timeout Market Montreal offers a vibrant and eclectic dining experience, where diverse flavors come together in a cozy yet lively setting. Whether you’re looking for a refreshing drink or a unique twist on classic comfort food, this market has something special to offer. My recent visit had me trying a couple of standout items that perfectly showcased the creativity and bold flavors on offer. Video Review will be posted on Tik Tok and Instagram soon @Foxyappetite In depth review: I started at the bar by ordering the Tiger Mojito, a cocktail that immediately piqued my interest with its blend of exotic ingredients inspired by Vietnamese cuisine. The combination of kaffir lime, aloe, and lychee was a refreshing departure from the usual mojito, providing a wonderfully layered flavor profile. The kaffir lime added an aromatic citrusy punch, while the aloe contributed a cool, soothing element, and the lychee lent a touch of sweetness. This drink felt like a unique journey through Southeast Asia, offering a refreshing escape from the usual cocktail menu. It was beautifully balanced, with just enough sweetness to complement the tanginess of the lime without overwhelming the palate. For my meal, I headed over to Chef Paul Toussaint’s stall and opted for the Jerk Chicken Poutine as it was la poutine week. This Haitian version was a creative and mouthwatering take on the beloved Canadian classic. The poutine featured a combination of crispy regular fries and plantain fries, which were a fantastic touch. The plantain fries brought a slightly sweet contrast to the savory components, elevating the dish to a whole new level of flavor. The jerk chicken itself was expertly seasoned—spicy, smoky, and perfectly tender. The heat from the seasoning was just right, giving the dish a bold kick without overpowering the other ingredients. The Caribbean spicy gravy was the star here—rich, creamy, and with just enough tang to enhance the depth of the flavors. The cheese curds melted seamlessly into the gravy, providing that quintessential poutine experience with a comforting texture. The real highlight, however, was the addition of pikliz, a Haitian-style spicy slaw. It brought a much-needed crunch and a refreshing tang that balanced out the heaviness of the fries and gravy. The pikliz was vibrant and tangy, making it an essential component that tied everything together beautifully. Timeout Market Montreal is a must-visit destination for anyone craving bold flavors and a unique culinary adventure. The Tiger Mojito is an excellent choice for those looking for a refreshing drink with a twist, while the Jerk Chicken Poutine is a hearty and satisfying meal that combines Caribbean and Canadian influences in the best possible way. The mix of textures and flavors, from crispy fries to smoky chicken and the tangy slaw, makes for a memorable and satisfying meal. It’s a place where diverse cultural influences come together seamlessly, offering both locals and tourists an exciting dining experience.

I recently visited Time Out Market Montréal for the drag brunch on November 2nd, and while the experience had some incredible highlights, there were a few things that could have been better planned. First, let's talk about the positives. The drag show was absolutely fantastic! The queens were stunning, and the performance was full of energy and humor. It was a joy to watch, and they really knew how to engage the crowd. I also have to give a special shoutout to the Nutella calzone I ordered from Moleskin—it was absolutely delicious and the perfect sweet treat to enjoy during the show. However, the set-up for the event left a lot to be desired. We made sure to arrive an hour early to get a good spot in front of the stage, but when we got there, we learned that all the prime seating was already reserved. We tried to take a spot on the side, but unfortunately, that didn’t work out well either. Throughout the performance, people constantly walked right in front of us, and the aisle was often blocked by people stopping to watch or take pictures. While the staff did their best to keep things moving and ensure that the flow wasn’t disrupted, there was only so much they could do. My main issue was with the stage placement and the seating arrangement. Given how popular the drag brunch is, it seems odd that the best seats—right in front of the stage—were all reserved, leaving the rest of the crowd in less-than-ideal spots. Why place the stage in an area where there’s limited seating in front? It’s disappointing, especially when you’ve made an effort to arrive early and get a good view. Overall, the drag show itself was a blast, and the food was top-notch, but the seating arrangement and stage placement really need to be reconsidered for future events. It’s such a great concept, and with a few tweaks, it could be an even better experience.

Very pricey. Very limited menus. Slow service. Not enough seating. Communal seating only. Every menu is in French only. Did you ever wish there was a place with the atmosphere of a food court, the prices of a 5 star restaurant, the service of a fast food joint and the seating plan of a county jail cafeteria? If so, you are going to love Time Out Market. Come enjoy the chance to eat your $10 hotdog, $10 taco or $20 sandwich, elbow to elbow and face to face with strangers. If you come at the wrong time you may have to eat standing up or wander around hopelessly searching for a seat while your food gets cold. The atmosphere is 100% "mall food court" except for the fact that you can actually get a private table at a mall food court. Here, the only option is sharing a big long table with some strangers. Each restaurant has just 2 or 3 items on the menu. The lines for the various restaurants as well as the lines of people trying to pick up their food turn into one chaotic mass of people up against the counters. Ordering feels like trying to get a beer at a packed nightclub. My wife had a salad and a scone for $33.00 and I had a $22.00 chicken sandwich. Three lattes, a muffin and a scone from Olive and Gourmando were $30.00. The food was "fine" in all cases. I see no reason to ever come back here. If I'm going to pay full restaurant prices (or more) I would like, at the very minimum to have a private table. A full menu and table service is sort of expected at this price point as well.

One of the nicest food markets I have been to! It has a very upscale, almost high end vibe. Very modern, contemporary design. I loved the fact the design of each individual restaurant was united. Every major world cuisine is present so you can literally pick anything you desire. We went for Indian biryani and Vietnamese vermicelli - both of them were a delight. It tasted authentic, was flavorful and delicious. Even though we visited during Sunday early evening (dinner time) we didn’t have a problem finding a seat, plenty of them around were available. There was also a section accessible for adults only, meaning it features a bar and you can buy an alcoholic drink - whether a tailor made cocktail, bottle of wine or draft beer is up to you. We opted for cocktails and were not disappointed. As it's a food market located inside a shopping mall, the atmosphere might feel a little rushed with so many people coming and going, but it’s definitely worth visiting. Overall ambience is great, with some nice music in the background. I believe all vendors accept cards (apart from cash of course) as a form of payment and while the prices might be slightly higher than in similar places, the quality of the food and the overall atmosphere justify the cost. Toilets were clean and well maintained. Visited on a Sunday, July 2023. Paid by card.

Nice try but it appears to be underprepared and/or poorly executed. We ‘discovered’ this place on a weekend and felt we wanted to come back and try the food. We visited on a Thursday night around 6pm, no chance to find a place to sit. Maybe too many restaurants in ratio to tables/seating area. For this reason we recommend that people get their table first then get the food. We had a 50/50 service, my wife’s pasta was quickly and efficiently prepared, warm and delicious. While my poutine was cold and unappetizing. The restaurant blamed it on short staff. On one side, the food chain for the pasta was efficient and at the other restaurant, we needed to source our own forks from another location because they ran out. It’s great there are staff members there coming to pick up the trays once you’re done eating, but they should wear hairnets (which wouldn’t look classy) so maybe an etiquette training to not brush your hair as you pass beside tables. One suggestion, in this digital era - why not have tablets with images of the food in order to make it easier to order. We are curious about trying other restaurants but hesitant about the service we’ll receive in return...
