Came here for the first time tonight and although the lady at the cash was nice and the food was good, I won’t be back. They serve you like in a fast food resto, you order at the cash and pay, then you go sit at a table while you wait for your order. When your food is ready, the cashier puts it on a tray and calls out your order so you can go get your tray of food. This is totally fine. But when we were done eating, one person in my group returned her tray to the counter (where we had picked up our food) and a grumpy man came out of the kitchen and raised his voice at us « WHO LEFT THEIR TRAY HERE?? Do not leave your garbage on MY counter!! » He could have told us nicely to place our trays in the other section which my friend didn’t see (because it was our first time eating here!!) There was no need to rudely speak to us especially since we all left a tip for « service » that was identical to a fast food joint. We would have appreciated a polite request to bring our trays to the trash bins. Food was a little on the pricey side but still acceptable, I paid 35$ including tax and tip for a jumbo roti goat with a spoonful of rice and salad and a can of coke. If you go, make sure you don’t accidentally return your tray on the man’s counter because you may...
Read more3.5 stars - Despite the food actually being fairly good, and some of the better Caribbean i’ve had in Montreal, I had a few issues with our order. First and foremost, the double was not a double. By definition a double contains a chickpea curry so I was expecting that plus the protein (chicken) and the traditional sauces. No chickpeas (thus no curry) and no sauce, just over cooked / dry chicken. The flavor of the chicken was good but still very disappointing as a meal. The jerk chicken plate, again tasted good, but was also over cooked & dry, even the dark meat. Again no hot sauce or anything to help with moisture. Ive never ordered from a Caribbean restaurant that didn’t give hot sauce and/or picklez on the side. Also everything comes in a trio which means pop & rice. We don’t drink pop and find it odd to give rice with a roti. No option to choose what your side or drink is. (I would have gladly taken sorrel and coleslaw.) I feel like more flexibility in ordering would have...
Read moreI’ve always wanted to stop at this restaurant and haven’t gotten the chance because either they were closed or I didn’t have time cuz I was on the way to an appointment or something. Today august 2nd at 6pm I was stuck in horrible traffic on our famous decarie and at last second saw the exit and pulled a massive fast and furious move and got the exit and so glad I did. I parked right in front and walked in to this small little front of restaurant and the kindest elder lady came out from the back to serve me. I ordered 2 original doubles and one chicken double and a macaroni salad. I’m absolutely in love. I can’t tell u how amazing the food was it is in my top 3 Caribbean food in Montreal and the surroundings. I can’t wait to go back and try the rest of the menu I promise I will. And I have to mention there homemade hot sauce is just WOW 😮. I recommend this...
