My experience at Uchi was so positive that I had to leave my first-ever Google review. I am not from the area and was pleasantly surprised to find high-quality, great-tasting sushi outside the Japanese enclaves near my hometown. I was extremely impressed by how the food at Uchi rivaled the quality and flavor of my neighbor's, who is a highly trained sushi chef from Japan. The prices at Uchi are extremely reasonable and customer service is great, even for pick-up orders. Also, the selection here is great with a lot of variety! I ordered different rolls as well as sashimi (salmon, tuna, yellowtail, mackerel) and everything exceeded my expectations. The sushi rolls were a good size, the fish-to-rice ratios were perfect (Uchi does not skimp out at all), the fish was extremely fresh with generous portions, and the way the food was presented in the containers was excellent (most other sushi restaurants do not pay this much attention to detail so props to the chef). My only issue with Uchi is that I would have to travel for hours to eat here again!

5 stars in every category. It feels like a "hole in the wall" kind of place when you're walking to it at night, but as soon as you step in - it's anything but. Perfectly dim lighting (not too dark). Cracked glass plating by the booths. Mahogany tables. Nice glassware. The servers were nice and constantly there refilling drinks. But not to the point that it was overbearing. Menu is easy to follow. They have single and two person 'meal deals'. We opted to choose our own rolls. Had 6 different rolls (a mix of speciality and maki). My favorite - Pizza and Phoenix. But they were all delicious. It was almost completely packed, but the food came out at a good pace. Right when we finished our appetizer (Salmon Tataki - the ponzu was amazing), they brought out the tray with our sushi. Loved everything. Lightly torched scallion on the Phoenix. Slight crunch inside the Dragon Tear. Perfect balance on flavors on the Pizza. Perfect place for a date night, or a friend's meet, or even solo. The price was cheap compared to the quality.

We came here with friends, but we didn't have reservations on a Friday night during Pride. There was 5 of us and they had room for us but only for an hour before another group who reserved three tables would arrive. With that in mind, we couldn't order the sushi because it would take too long by the time it would arrive to our table, so opted to get the hot dishes instead to make it easier on time. We ordered from the Table d'Hôte side of the menu. The food was excellent, and the service was wonderful. You can bring your own wine (Apportez votre vin). I really wished we had time for sushi because it looked delicious and well presented either on a boat or on a bridge. Skip the dessert, however. It's okay, but nothing spectacular. I wish they would have offered Japanese desserts instead of Western desserts that were okay.

Let’s get the only good part out of the way : the food is delicious.

We arrived at 6:15PM, were sat in the middle of a very noisy restaurant. Felt like a loud cafeteria.

Behind us were several other empty tables, including a banquet. Two minutes after sitting down, a family of four were sat next to us with screaming, unbehaved children. Knowing this would be an issue, we asked to be seated a bit further down. Before I could even finish my sentence, the waitress cuts me off and says it’s reserved and they do not allow table switches.

Throughout the evening, the banquet that was « reserved » was seated 90 minutes later. It took them an hour to pour a soup and toss a small salad. We then got served our sushi a full 100 minutes after arriving. Everyone was wondering where their food was.

The service was dreadful. The children next to us were sitting, bottom down on the table, yelling… it was a shock to have such uncivilized children next to us with waiters enabling it. Note to families,… if you have young children at home, just stay home on Valentine’s day. Don’t ruin it for literally everyone else.

While the food was good, it’s not worth waiting two hours for once seated, and certainly not a great experience when you’re waiting an hour for a salad entrée with misbehaved children and incompetent parents close by with an unsupportive...
