McDonald's — Restaurant in Mount Pearl

Five stars, obviously! Not for the food, mind you – I barely even noticed what I ate. My visit to McDonald's yesterday was less about satisfying a craving and more about a profound, life-altering experience.

I walked in, ready to grab a quick bite, but my eyes immediately fixated on a couple in the corner booth. They weren't eating; they were intensely focused on a chess board.

Now, I consider myself a decent amateur player, but the intensity radiating from this match was palpable. I stood there, mesmerized, for what felt like an eternity. Each move was deliberate, each pause pregnant with strategy. I completely forgot about ordering. I forgot about my hunger. I forgot about my dog waiting in the car.

Then, it happened. The woman, with a triumphant smirk, moved her knight. "Checkmate," she whispered, her voice barely audible over the din of the restaurant. The man slumped back, defeated but impressed. And in that moment, something clicked within me. My entire perspective on life shifted. If two strangers could find such profound joy and rivalry over a chessboard in a McDonald's, what else was I missing?

I walked out of McDonald's a changed person. I immediately bought a chessboard, downloaded a chess app, and have been challenging strangers in the park ever since. So, thank you, McDonald's. You didn't just serve me a meal; you served me a new purpose. As for the burger... I think it was a burger?...

Ordered a classic Big Mac meal Requested lighy mac sauce as they put too much on no matter where i go. They must of thought i wanted extra. It was smothered. I couldn’t even eat the burger it was sliding out of my hands.

Fries were cold and the Soft drink was flat.

I gave the service 3 stars because the drive thru person was nice, polite and quick.

Addition to this trip to this horrible location I went there again,against my better judgment because i was at Walmart and the convenience of it, but anyway.. cold fries, flat drink and a mess in the bag. Poor customer service they only offered alternatives to soda after the CO2 ran out in the fountain drinks. Who is responsible for changing the CO2? I worked fast food and i used to do it. Its not rocket science.

I reduced the customer service rating to 1 star.

There have not been fountain drinks availabls at this location for at least a couple of months. They say their machine is broken and provide customers with warm, non-refridgerated cans of coke without a cup, ice or straw. If you ask for a cup and ice, they will provide it, but the employees sound annoyed by the request. The fact that there is no attempt to refrigerate the drinks or to offer a cup and ice by default is below the standards expected of any restaurant and certainly McDonald's where consistency is what the company is known for and what keeps customers returning. There is no apology offered, no sign to say there are no fountain drinks or even cold drinks available, and information about when it is intended to be fixed. It demonstrates disregard for the...
