Hoss & Jill's Bistro — Restaurant in Nakusp

We were highly disappointed with our experience. The staff were rude from the moment we arrived. As soon as we walked in, we were promptly told that the restaurant closed at 2 PM and we had to order immediately if we wanted something. We ordered our food as we had travelled and were road tired. We were then told we had to leave and could not sit on the patio due to loitering concerns. We had no where to eat and so we did stay on the patio for a short time, rushing to eat. We witnessed another customer walk up to the front door and the staff inside watched him come up and as he grabbed the door handle, the staff locked the door in front of him and just looked at him. What happened to speaking to the customer to let him know they were closed? In our short 15 minutes there, about 10 people tried to go inside after the restaurant closed. Maybe it needs to be considered to stay open if there is that much demand?

The food was just okay, but I think ruined by our experience. Please do better and treat people...

Hoss & Jill's, a Thanksgiving Sunday Vignette. Me: Hello! What are your soups today? Cashier: It's soup. Me: Oh, ok. What is your soup today? Cashier: No soup. Me: ummmm, no onions please and I'll take these cookies I guess. Cashier: rolls eyes. Partner: Just a Rueben and a coffee for me please. Cashier flicks order buzzer thing across counter towards us. Me and partner look at each other on way out. Me: Did that just happen? Partner: What...

A friend and I had been on the road all day and were looking forward to a late lunch at Hoss & Jill's, we had heard good things about the menu and quality of food. We were greeted with a nonchalant attitude and informed they had run out of propane and the majority of items on the menu were not available? My friend has serious gluten issue and apparently they had run out of gluten free bread? We decided to have a coffee in the meantime so we could decide what foods we could order from the limited selection. Before we could order food we were notified they were closing but we could finish drinking our coffee on the outside patio! I'm sorry, we are very easy going people and love to support local business whenever possible .... needless to say we were not impressed with this experience whatsoever.

We decided to continue driving and eat at Revelstoke. Will we return to Hoss and Jill's,...
