I really really wanted to like them as making homemade Ukrainian food is laborous. Unfortunately the cabbage rolls are unseasoned and are 95 percent rice. They charge $5 for a small container of tomato sauce on top of the price for small cabbage rolls, so it's not a good value for basically rice and tomato sauce. The borscht was okay, more flavour but still missing the mark. If you don't like overly spiced food, and things very simple I can see why they're popular but I myself enjoy flavour.

Came here while visiting Vancouver island and I love pierogies and these were probably the best pierogies I’ve had, not sure what all the bad reviews are about these tasted great and overall I was just treated with kindness after walking through the door. Great store/restaurant and will recommend my friends and family who live out here.

In my top ten perogies of North America. The cheese and potato perogies with a side of sausage is a very tasty lunch. The gals working this kitchen are very nice and the aromas hmmm good!

I did not have a chance to dine in at Sandy's Ukrainian kitchen, but had tried ordered food by my friend, and the experience was nothing short of exceptional. The tantalizing aroma of authentic cuisine filled the air as I savored their cabbage rolls and perogies with creamy mashed potatoes. Each delectable bite transported me back to the comforting flavors of my home country, Ukraine bringing memories a life.

Beyond the incredible food, Sandy's Ukrainian kitchen has a heartwarming commitment to community engagement. I was deeply impressed to discover their active involvement in helping Ukrainian families in need. During the Christmas season, they orchestrated a heartwarming initiative to ensure that every Ukrainian child received a Christmas gift, and they also organized clothing and food donations for those less fortunate. Witnessing their genuine care for the community left me truly touched.

Having the chance to collaborate with Sandy's Ukrainian kitchen on several community events aimed at raising funds for Ukrainian children's education was both fulfilling and heartening. The sight of happy children benefiting from their efforts brought immense joy to my heart. Sandy, the owner, is such an adorable and caring person. Her dedication to making a positive difference in the lives of others shines through in every aspect of her restaurant.

The presence of Sandy's Ukrainian kitchen in Nanaimo is indeed a blessing for the community. Their proactive involvement in giving back and supporting those in need is both inspiring and heartwarming. I wholeheartedly recommend visiting this place not only for the mouthwatering food but also to be a part of their remarkable initiatives. With each visit, you not only treat your taste buds but also contribute to uplifting the lives of others. It is an experience that will leave a lasting impact, and I applaud Sandy's Ukrainian kitchen for spreading...

Ever since I’ve been taking my daughter to jumping jiminys, I always make a stop at this restaurant and either get a hot meal to go or order the frozen and take it home and cook it. I have a really hard time feeding my daughter, but she is absolutely obsessed with your borsht and always begs me for more so that there’s not enough for myself most of the time… 😭 That is a shame, but I am not going to complain haha… BC this food is just that good!! I usually get pierogies garlic sausage, borsht and cabbage rolls - but I really wanna break out and try more! All phenomenal - I dated a guy from the Ukraine and these beat his mothers! Lol. Plus it makes my finicky three-year-old want to eat and I am very grateful for that! This has definitely got to be one of my favourite dining choices around...

Delighted to provide a well earned 5 star review to such a fabulous traditional restaurant.

First time visiting yesterday and got the Ukrainian combo (perogies, cabbage rolls, and sausage).

When I bit into the first perogie it felt like my Baba was alive again.

Simply delicious food made with high quality ingredients. All served up by the nicest ladies you will ever meet.

Ended up taking a bunch of frozen food home of course.

Prices were more than reasonable, especially considering the portion sizes, quality, and the time it takes to meticulously prepare this type of food.

Will be back again and...
