Early Sunday morning breakfast spots in Nelson BC are hard to find so when our daughter found this spot we decided to give it a try. Kind of out of the way spot but ample parking which is good because it is a busy place. Inside looks like a typical diner. You can see into the kitchen and the decor is from the 50’s in up. It was a grab menus and seat yourself but our waiter was right there with water and to take our drink order. Their entire menu is available from opening to closing so our non breakfast eating kid could have a burger. Us adults opted for the Breakfast Poutine with hollandaise sauce instead of gravy. Bacon was crispy and the eggs cooked to our request. My only criticism would be that it was plated like a normal breakfast and not piled up like your normal poutine. Otherwise it was delicious. Will go back for sure to try other meals as the place was full by the time...
Read moreMy fiance and I stumbled across this place while walking around trying to enjoy the beautiful city of Nelson. We were served by an older lady who was just an absolute grumpy hag. When we sat down in this very small store, we waited about 10 minutes before this so called server went on to ask "have you been served? Well would you like to be served or not?" . We ordered two black iced coffees (without milk/cream) as we both have lactose intolerances. From then we were told by this grumpy hag that "if you want an iced coffee without milk then you don't want an iced coffee." In a very snarly 'bitchy' tone. We eventually got our iced coffees. (With milk may I add, after specifically asking for no milk).
Overall a terrible experience. Don't waste your hard earned money here.. unless you like being treated like...
Read moreI will never go back here. The reason? The menu prices are not correct as you find out when you go to pay. On the cover page if the menu in small print they say prices may be subject to change... but who looks at the cover page of a menu! The prices for the quality and quantity were already seeming a bit high, but after the increase at the till which was around $1.50 more then the menu it became an absolute ripoff. The Ruben was mostly sauerkraut with not much corned beef and didn't even come with the usual thousand island style sauce but either yellow or Dijon mustard. The service was also terrible with the waitress only coming by once to take the order. Nelson has much better to offer elsewhere want a quick lunch bite that's good go try Finley's bar and grill or any of the other restaurants on...
