Taste is mediocre. HOWEVER the service is HORRIBLE HORRIBLE.
I pre-scheduled a cake to be picked up on July 15th @ 4pm (please don’t comment asking me what date/and time, how about you read this). There was a tornado warning so I called asking if I could pick it up an hour earlier. I called, explained the situation, and the server asked me what kind of cake I’d like. So I had to repeat myself again saying that I PLACED AN ORDER ALREADY and they asked me what size I wanted… by the 3rd time I explained, they started introducing to me what types of cakes they have. After the last time I tried they asked me for my number – I though that’s for searching up my order in the system, and they just hung up on me LOL. O M G can you please pay some attention to what I was saying?
Then I tried calling a different number and the boss told me they never received my order through Ritual… you ain’t telling me none of that when I have the confirmation sitting in my email. So I had to go in and they told me they’ve never used the pre-schedule feature, it’s always been on the day of, which was where the confusion came from. And the server’s English wasn’t the greatest, and I “should” understand. Yes, I do, but not when that’s the only person in your store, unless you really don’t care about your business. And in the end the owner wanted to wrap up the conversation so bad that she interrupted and yelled at me saying “HAVE A NICE DAY”, basically asking me to leave.
Worse customer service, worse shopping experience ever. Never coming back, and I strongly recommend whoever’s reading this to...
Read moreI’ve been here a couple of times to buy pastries and twice to have some treats that reminded me of back home. Unfortunately, both times were disappointing experiences. The quality of the pastries was moderate, and the service was quite uncomfortable. The faludeh was terrible in quality. The BB chocolate cake and Nescafé cake tasted good but were very pricey. The nan berenji was hard, bad in quality, and also overpriced. Another frustrating point is that they don’t display prices, so you have to keep asking how much each item costs, which is unusual in Canada. Once, when I asked about the price of a coconut cookie (nargili), the staff told me, “If you want 6 of them, better to get a box; otherwise, each is about $3.65,” ( if i remember the price correctly)and suggested I buy more. When I replied that I only wanted 3, and she asked me why!! And I said because I am in diet! the response felt rude and made me uncomfortable!
Overall, everything feels overpriced, and the customer service left me disappointed. I even brought my cousin from Germany once, and the experience was unpleasant. Last year, I visited the North York and Mimico locations, where I had much better experiences compared to this Newmarket location.
Unfortunately, I won’t visit this branch again and don’t recommend it. I used to be a regular customer, but...
Read moreWhile selecting a birthday cake for my daughter, an individual sternly advised me not to touch the freezer. I was merely examining the cakes closely to understand the variety, not actually touching them. Recognizing his concern, I proposed placing a sign on that specific freezer for clearer guidance, rather than on the entrance or other freezers. Instead of appreciating my suggestion, he tersely directed me to another sign. His approach not only made me feel undervalued as a mother accompanying her child but also distressed my daughter to the extent that she felt depressed. When I voiced my unease with his demeanor, he declared, "I am the OWNER AND I CAN DO WHAT I WANT!" As a result, I decided not to purchase anything and have no intention of returning. It's evident that his customer service skills need enhancement. The owner's attitude raises questions about the workplace atmosphere for the employees. I genuinely feel for the team working under...
