Arriving at 207 Eagle St, Newmarket, ON L3Y 1J6, I was met with a rustic charm that immediately peaked my interest. As it turned out, my first time at Big Bone BBQ would turn out to be a delightful explosion of senses that exceeded all my expectations.
From the moment I walked in, the tantalizing scent of smoky barbecue filled the air, setting the stage for what was about to be an unforgettable dining experience. Every aspect of Big Bone BBQ impressed me, right from the exceptional customer service to the spotless cleanliness, the vibrant atmosphere, and, of course, the unrivalled quality of food.
It was a Monday evening, and as newcomers to the establishment, the staff recommended we try the Monday special - an offering that got us hooked instantly. The taste of the food was nothing short of amazing. From the first bite, I was instantly transported to a BBQ haven where the harmony of flavours danced a lively jig on my palate. The food quality was impeccable, each dish tasted fresh and was cooked to perfection, the meats were tender and succulent, basking in a harmony of sauces and spices that were clearly the result of time-honoured recipes.
Being a BBQ novice, I was thrilled by the symphony of tastes. The tangy sauces, the smoky meats, and the perfect balance of textures left an indelible impression. After finishing our meal, we were so impressed that we ordered take-out to relish the next day, a testament to the delight we experienced at this amazing BBQ restaurant.
Beyond the food, the customer service at Big Bone BBQ was a refreshing change from the norm. The staff were friendly, attentive, and quick to ensure our dining experience was nothing short of perfect. They were genuinely interested in making our first visit a memorable one, their recommendations were spot on, and their swift service spoke volumes about their commitment to customer satisfaction.
The atmosphere at Big Bone BBQ was the perfect setting for a hearty meal. The rustic charm of the place was endearing and the vibe was warm and welcoming. The place was brimming with customers who all seemed to be having a great time, a clear testament to the popularity of this local hotspot.
The cleanliness of the restaurant was immediately noticeable. Every corner of the establishment was immaculately maintained, reflecting the management's commitment to providing a clean and comfortable dining environment for all customers. This spoke volumes about their dedication to maintaining high standards in every aspect of their service.
In conclusion, my first time at Big Bone BBQ was a dining experience par excellence. From the delicious food, impeccable service, warm atmosphere, to the spotless cleanliness, everything exceeded my expectations. It’s a dining destination I would recommend to all food lovers, BBQ enthusiasts or not. I left the restaurant knowing it wouldn't be long before I'd return for another memorable...
Read moreDefinitely given this location their last chance. Despite having several orders be mixed up and made incorrectly, and then being met with rude, unaccommodating responses to this (owner/manager arguing that we must have ordered incorrectly), we decided to order some takeout last night as at least the food is usually good, and we love the food/staff at the Whitby location. Yet again the food that was presented to us wasn’t what we ordered, yet again the manager gave my boyfriend a hard time and made him feel as though the mistake was on our part (it wasn’t, we are regulars at the Whitby location, and have ordered countless times, I know how to ask for what I’d like), and yet again, we had to wait while the rest of our food got cold. On top of the mix up and frustrating service, this time the food was actually sub par. I will say that the brisket was great, the ‘poutine’ was good but shredded cheddar cheese was used, which a poutine does not make in my books, but the wings were awful, tasted like they had no seasoning on them, and the replacement wings seemed to be hardly cooked and had no signature sauce on them. I normally wouldn’t be one to complain, but given the repeated issues, the low quality of the wings paired with the fact that this food is not cheap, and the other arrogant and rude responses from the owner on the other bad reviews, I felt compelled to speak out against this place. You might be able to get away with the rude behaviour temporarily, but it’ll catch up eventually when people stop wanting to support the business of someone who can’t take constructive criticism graciously. (Not to mention you can only have an f you attitude if you can always provide the quality of food to back it up lol).
Responding to owner comment: thanks for the response! The review was intended for the Newmarket location. Not sure who it would’ve been giving us trouble then, and the comments about the food, as well as the comments about the other responses on the reviews left...
Read moreIt's not award winning BBQ by any stretch, but it's a decent option in the Newmarket/Aurora area; I guess really due to the limited competition in this space. Smoke flavour is mostly limited. The brisket is 'pulled' instead of sliced. I wouldn't even call that brisket. It's pulled beef. Beans and coleslaw are very basic with no unique twist. Beans just taste like canned Bush's beans. Fries are not fresh cut. They are basically Costco fries. The gravy is admittedly tasty and makes the fries more palatable, but the gravy is far from being homemade. Cornbread is good but ultimately unremarkable; same as slaw and beans. The more I write in this review the less impressed I am looking back. I think this place could go up a star on food if they thought outside the very basics of BBQ. Service was great, but the place inside is kind of like the food... middle of the road. Would love to come back and try it again if they want to up their game a bit.
Just lost a star for establishment response to my review. Learn how to take constructive criticism. Can you defend any of the points I made? No you can’t.
No way to respond to owner response so have to do through editing the review. So back to the owner... I don't need to be a BBQ expert to have the authority to call out frozen Costco'ish fries, uninspiring beans and coleslaw, and for advertising brisket that is just shredded beef. Yeah, I guess I am saying there's a lot of rubes out there that are happy to part with their money for basic and clumsy BBQ. So put that in your smoker and smoke it. Just give it some thought as constructive criticism and and improve the product instead of getting defensive. I'd gladly pay a few extra dollars for it, and will gladly delete my review if this...
