Hello everyone. I am writing this review to provide transparent feedback to others on my experience.
Living in Zephyr and frequenting Newmarket and surrounding area, I always saw Chez Talal and wouldn't think twice about visiting it in the strip plaza that it sits in. However, there aren't many food options in Newmarket unless you enjoy burgers and fries everywhere (I can say that - I've lived in this area for 10 years). While looking for souvlaki restaurants one day for my wife and I, and given a popular chain in the area recently shut down, I was presented with Chez Talal in my search options. I came here, just like you, and read the reviews that everyone else left. For months now I've wanted to try their food after reading the reviews, but never gotten a chance to. Today, I finally took a leap of faith (I'm very cautious when it comes to my food - I love eating, but cleanliness is also important to me). I drove from Zephyr and visited this establishment, but first, I placed my order on the phone....the female who answered the phone was very friendly and pleasant - I was very surprised, because you just don't get that kind of respect and politeness nowadays. I placed my order, went to pickup, and they were equally friendly and helpful in the restaurant. It's a little mom and pop type shop, but it's clean, bright and you will have no hesitations from a cleanliness perspective. They were BUSY! I could see one of the employees preparing what seems a bunch of online/phone orders and for skip the dishes, and I had to wait a bit to pickup my food as there was someone waiting on front of me, but th ere was someone waiting behind me, and a family of 8 came in to dine in. I was greeted by the other employee (who took my order) and she set me up with the food, was extremely friendly, and then I left. When I got home, my wife and I were AMAZED with the sheer quantity of the food they give you - that was my concern, that takeout would result in very small portions, but this was huge! We ordered Chicken Souvlaki Dinner and Beef Kabab Dinner with a Ceaser Salad. Please note that the bacon crumble in the photos did NOT come with the Ceaser Salad for obvious reasons - we added those on at home. For just under $50, this was a WONDERFUL and filling meal. Aside from quantity, the actual taste was so good! Flavorful and aromatic, I had such a great dinner and actually overate, because it was so good. 5 Stars all the way - will be...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at a Mediterranean restaurant that left me thoroughly impressed. From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere. The well-lit dining space created a welcoming ambiance, making it the perfect setting for a delightful meal.
The star of the show, of course, was the food. The Mediterranean cuisine offered here was nothing short of exceptional. Each dish burst with authentic flavors that transported my taste buds to the Mediterranean coast. From the perfectly grilled kebabs to the aromatic falafel, every bite was a culinary delight. The menu showcased a diverse range of options for both vegetarians and meat lovers, all at incredibly affordable prices.
What truly set this restaurant apart was its quick service. The attentive staff ensured that my order arrived promptly, allowing me to enjoy a satisfying meal without any unnecessary delays. Their efficiency was truly commendable.
Moreover, the convenience of parking space near the restaurant was a big plus. It made my dining experience hassle-free and stress-free, knowing that I could easily find a spot to park.
Lastly, the portions were generous, ensuring that I left the restaurant with a satisfied appetite. It's rare to find such a balance between quality and quantity, but this Mediterranean gem managed it flawlessly.
In summary, this Mediterranean restaurant exceeded my expectations on all fronts. Great food, affordable prices, quick service, a well-lit dining space, and ample parking made for a memorable dining experience. I can't wait to return and explore more of their delectable offerings. If you're in search of a fantastic Mediterranean meal, this place is...
Read moreI am not from the area, but happened to be there picking something up. I looked up Middle Eastern restaurants in the area and chose this one because of the high rating. I walked in and was barely acknowledged. The person working there continued to work on what looked like a Skip the Dishes order as he was touching a mini tablet and putting things in containers. After a few minutes, I asked if I could order. He said sure. I asked for a salad with chicken. He said what kind of salad and I said just a regular garden salad. He seemed confused so I said ok I'll take the Low carb meal. He said ok and then said something to another worker in the back in another language. He still continued to work out a take out order as I stood there and waited. I was the only customer in the store. He threw my order together but didnt ask me any questions about whether I wanted this or that. He went in the back and brought back the container with salad mixed with dressing in it. He hadnt asked me anything about whether i wanted the dressing mixed into the salad or anything. Very little communication. He then added the chicken on top and proceeded to dump tahini and garlic sauce to the point I had to say ok whoa enough. It was wayyyyyyy too much. I had already waited long enough and my 3 year old was getting impatient so I just took it. $16 later (mandatory looking tip popped up on the debit screen and it wasnt a touch less debit machine at all). This entire time the guy did not change his gloves. The sauce was so overwhelming and the food was so soggy I ended up throwing 80% of it out. Never going back there again! Beware!...
