Nice to see a ramen place in Newmarket! When we arrived the restaurant wasn’t busy at all, just one family in dining in as well. Front door felt so heavy that we thought the place was closed! Once we got in we were promptly seated at a table of our choosing, the menus were clean and new where it had a nice design layout which wasn’t overwhelming. We ordered three bowls of ramen: Shoyu, Ippon Miso, black knight. All three bowls were good in terms of flavour, wasn’t too salty and had a good noddle consistency. My main issue is that there was not that much meat in the bowl (2)…in the menu is showed 4 pieces? Delicious but wanted more. We also ordered an order of chicken karage which didn’t seem like it was cooked…the server let us know that it was cooked for 1 minutes but it was reddish pink…We also ordered a beautiful triangle of Takoyaki which was soooooo yummy! I think they did a different take on it, it didn’t have that thick of a crust but it had a great filling. Just visualize a nice crispy crust with a molten delicious interior. The whole restaurant is beautiful and you can really tell that they put a lot of work in revamping this space in this smaller strip mall. The whole place is well maintained and clean, the washrooms were clean and theres is free wifi (password) at the front desk if you need it! The server that we had was very kind and respectful, a lot of attention to detail throughout our whole dining experience for sure. I think that this place was great and just needs a lil bit more for it to be perfect. I shall be back to try the donburi or even some of the other ramens!...
Read moreThe food was priced reasonably and comparable to other ramen places. There are also rice dishes available for those not looking for a soup meal.
My group was able to sample a good variety. I personally ordered their Karrage Ramen ($14.99) to be able to sample their ramen as well as the karrage. The other orders we had were the Black Knight ($14.99), Beef Ramen, and Karrage Don. We also had a side order of chicken karrage which came with a mayo dip. (The Karrage Ramen just came with 2 pieces and without any sauce dips).
There are no complains about the food taste and food value. Our server was also helpful and courteous. The place was clean.
Something noteworthy with the restaurant was that they have a food challenge available. The Super Bowl Challenge was finishing a big bowl (about 4 bowl servings) in under 9 mins. It is priced at $38.88, but you get it for free + the next meal bill ($77.70) on the house if you can finish the challenge. I was so close to daring myself to try the challenge, but decided otherwise and just ordered a single ramen bowl to get a better sense of how much a serving size will be.
We came in for lunch a little after 1:15 PM on a Friday. It was moderately busy with about a third or fourth of the seats occupied. There was a TV turned on and playing some English language pop songs on shuffle. I sort of wished the music was tuned it to something Japanese or anime so at least to get a better immersion of the Japanese theme of...
Read moreEnded up finding this place on a whim while searching for a nearby ramen restaurant. The exterior doesn't immediately stand out to anyone passing by but it makes up for that with interior décor.
The interior was beautiful. It had a very clean, modern Japanese vibe and it was pretty spacious, considering where it is located. The lights (bear with me, I have an odd fascination with lights) were this really cool lantern shape and there were flat, round circle ornaments placed around them which really stood out to me.
The service was super quick we were able to choose our own table and our order's were taken quickly. The staff was super friendly and very pleasant and they brought out our food in a timely manner.
Now the food itself? Very yummy. I ordered the curry chicken cutlet and it was pretty good. However, my boyfriend ordered the Red Knight ramen and he found it to be pretty average. So I think the taste might be up to you, depending on your past experiences with ramen. Now back to the curry: it was sweet, as Japanese curry usually is, but it also had good flavour so it wasn't like, sickeningly sweet. I honestly really enjoyed it.
Overall, a cute little place to go on a date or just to stop by if you're...
