I've ordered take-out from Wing House in Newmarket twice. First time was quite good and was the reason for my repeat order. My second food order was completely different. We had 3 flavours of wings (1lb each), fries, and an order of onion rings. The seasoning on the wings was fine and we are generally forgiving of some variation in this department. The chicken itself was completely dried out though. Tasted as if the wings were pre-boiled ahead of time and then just briefly tossed in the fryer, or maybe pre-fried and then microwaved. Can't say for sure though. They must know what specific shortcut they are taking in the hopes nobody will notice. Sides were equally gross. Fries were like cardboard and the onion rings a stringy gooey mess. I understand how difficult it can be to cook perfectly consistent. This wasn't that however. This was most definitely a kitchen that cheated on the process to make their own lives easier at the expense of the customer. Not quite as forgivable. Although we'll never get videographic proof of what was done in the kitchen, there is another tidbit that suggests I am correct. The first time I purchases take-out from this location, I ordered in the restaurant and waited at the bar for about 20 minutes. There were only a couple other people there and none of them were eating. Mine was the only food order. For this second visit, I pre-ordered over the phone. When I arrived just 15 minutes later to pickup, my ordered was already bagged and waiting on the bar top (and BTW, the restaurant was now full). Not sure how they could overcook the food in this instance in less time. My first experience would have received 4 stars but given how dodgy the second was, I don't think I could ever trust this...
Read moreBeen in once or twice for takeout orders and ordered once thru skip the dishes. Good wings, lots of variety of sauces and seasonings. Unfortunately it's next to impossible to decide on a flavour of you're unfamiliar or a first time customer. Not only is the huge variety of flavours overwhelming, there are no descriptions on the website or in the menu to help make a decision based on your mood or preferences.
Let me help. Essentially the wing flavours menu seems to be broken into sweet honey based sauces, international sauces (hot Teriyaki, pineapple curry, spicy Island, Hawaiian, Croatian, Sinhalese, Tokyo, American, etc), mixed hot with various spice blends, hot sauces mixed or topped with creamy dressings like ranch or dill, bbq based sauces and dry rubs.
From there, you can go mild medium or hot, but watch out for surprise toppings like blue cheese (like the "blondes"). Without descriptions you'll have to ask for help to figure out what you want.
I'm told you can just order medium, hot, homicide, suicide or knockout. You won't find this info on the menu though (not on its own).
Anyway, if you want wings, go! They're good. The hardest part is picking a flavour.
Fries are good, gravy is perfect. Had the seasoned fries once. Too salty for us. I'd order them light on the seasoning if I ever ordered them again.
Also has lemony chicken caesar salad. Really tasty. Just wish there was a grilled non...
