Montana’s BBQ & Bar — Restaurant in North Battleford

** Review update!! We go out for dinner with another couple every Saturday, when hubby gets off work, at around 5:15pm. Decided to go to Montanas, and they were very busy, But I saw 2 empty tables and I am handicapped , left standing at the door, while they hemmed and hawed, so I thought, after a while, when I couldn't stand any longer...well we are the 1st in line ...I am sitting down, as I can't stand anymore, the front was packed with other people trying to get in. Side Note...we always try and get a reservation, but they ALWAYS say they don't do that, and I had even checked online, like I always do, but they still don't (all other cities do). I think eventually, the rest of my crew came and sat down (4 of us now) .....A guy comes and says we CAN NOT sit there..... ITS RESERVED!!!!!!....what?? 2 tables EMPTY?? The other table would seat 6 and this one 4, WE HAD TO LEAVE!!! NEVER AGAIN will we EVER go there again. Completely rude, I can see why they don't reserve, its so full and busy... but WHY RESERVE TO SOME PEOPLE AND NOT OTHERS?? I would leave zero stars if I could!! #2 Review....Went for lunch with a friend on Saturday, of course, handed the menus, we each picked something from the menu, then told, they do not have the lunch menu on Saturdays!! What?? (its was on teeny tiny printing on menu) We each ordered a wrap, came with fries or salad, I had ordered the deep fried pickles appetizer, as maybe a lunch sized meal we could probably eat them as well, forgot to cancel that. So we have these huge wraps, that are OVER half doughy wrap!! and took 1/2 home, and the next day discovered just how much wrap to filling there is!! Anyways $57 for lunch for 2 ...with NO DRINKS!! NOT HAPPY!! Won't be back for a long long time....We mainly like the food here, and the atmosphere has gotten lots better, since they turned the music down, so you could hear each other!! They still play the music outside which is quite cheesy, Food is hot, and good, but I find it puzzling that they are a 'grilled meat' place and never any smell in the air outside from kitchen fans, IDK, Burger King down the road a bit...

I Always have the veggie burger. Its good but it falls apart. So why is a vegetarian going to a steakhouse?... lol cuz its a good atmosphere. Its always the same!! Tasty! The service is usually spot on..but this visit left me frustrated. Im an ex server. The server took our order. And that was the last time they came to our table. They walked by us several times not once inquiring how the meal was... Were we enjoying it and do we need anything? ....I got up and got myself some hot sauce. No refill on my coffee or drinks. No one took our plates away. Not the other servers walking by either. This is YOUR restsraunt and EVERYONES YOUR customer regardless who took their order. If you are paid to work then work and do a good job. Dont expect a tip cause you are serving someone. Serve because you want your clientele to enjoy their time in your space and give them the best service! The fastest refills! No plates should ever sit under the heat lamp someone take it out or alert the server. Take away the dirty plates even if its not your section. Chatting at the paper roll...or checking your cell at the back ...when there are things to do.... dunno...if you want to be tipped then be present. You can make 5c or $5...you decide!! Thanks for the rant and I will probably be back cuz hey, its Montanas! Everyone dreams of a little "outback"...even us veggie eaten human beans!! "Graze...

I've been to this Montana's several times over the years, but haven't gone in at least a year. My prior experiences have been fine. Yesterday's experience was not. This may be a one-off, but I'm not sure I'll be trying again anytime soon to see.

I ordered take-out. Upon arrival, the restaurant was quite busy and so the order wasn't ready at the anticipated time - understandble, no problem. We got the chicken burrito bowl and the pitmaster's combo. The best part of the pitmaster's combo was the ribs, everything else was not good. The fries were unseasoned. The chicken wings were clearly old and reheated, they were incredibly dry. The beef brisket was not that - it was a combination of shredded meats (pork and beef?); certainly not what was expected. The chicken burrito bowl was essentially a $20 bowl of corn. Very disappointing.

Maybe because it's a take-out order they care less, because you're not physically in the restaurant to send it back. However, it certainly doesn't cost any less and, given this experience, there are other places I'll be spending that money...
