JJ's Shawarma — Restaurant in North Grenville

I have had my fair share of shawarma and Middle Eastern food in my lifetime and they all pale in comparison to what I experienced at JJ's Shawarma. From the moment I saw the place I had a feeling it was special, the color scheme along with the interior design was phenomenal and it just got better from there. I was instantly greet with a very warm welcome by their staff who were nothing but pleasant to interact with. Now onto the part your waiting for the food. Never in my life have I had such a great Chicken shawarma sandwich. The chicken was extremely fresh and juicy and didn't have any rubber feeling piece which has become the norm in other shawarma stores. The blend used to marinate the Chicken is a special recipe created by the owner and it will knock you out of your boots, it is simply amazing. All the the vegetables were very fresh and neatly organized and the garlic and fries were not filled with oil like many other locations, he uses a perfect mix on his potatoes which is only complemented by the spectacular garlic sauce he creates. Overall it was a wonderful experience and I will be returning any time I am craving shawarma of any kind. I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for a very fresh, delicious and affordable...

First things first the food is phenomenal. JJ's has changed my view of what shawarma is and can be. Gone are the days of the greasy, heavy, and dry shawarma. I never knew shawarma could be this light and delicious. Incorporating delicate flavours that combine to create a piece of culinary art.

Furthermore, the owner and all the staff are so kind and welcoming. They make me feel like I'm visiting a friend's place for dinner. They care about their customers and they care about their food. In every shawarma restaurant I have been to before visiting JJ's I've felt like I was annoying them, or just bothering them, based on the cold . Here though, they're genuinely happy to see you.

Their chicken shawarma is hands down the best in and around Ottawa, and possibly in all of Canada (if not the world). The chicken is well seasoned, tender, and juicy. I would highly recommend getting the sweet sauce on your sandwich as well. It brings all the flavours together. The meat pie is also one of my favourites! Make sure you get some of the garlic sauce on the side and a couple veggies on there too you will not regret it.

On another note, their pickles and pickled turnips aren't...

Love this place! The greetings are generally so friendly and welcoming and the food is amazing. The two gentlemen that are usually there crack jokes and make fun conversation while waiting and the younger staff are always so polite. I was there last week however and was very bothered by how one employee was treating another. I have seen this woman working several times before, I heard her tell someone her name was "Ma" or this is what everyone called her. She was yelling at a younger man that was working because he dropped something and very bluntly rolling her eyes and shaking her head and making negative comments towards him. You could tell he was embarrassed and nervous as there were many guests who saw this. Every time I have visited and she has been working I have felt the same uneasiness with how I have heard her speak to guests and staff. It is unfortunate as everything else here...
