I seldom write one star reviews. Yet I feel compelled in doing so due to the service I recieved . That being said, I work with hundreds of restaurants/cafes due to the nature of my business.
Customer service / attitude is key when it comes to developing a following and customers coming back for more.
I just wanted to try something since this was my first time there. Upon entry I tried being friendly / sparking a conversation. The woman at the front immediately told me they were sold out of bread (this was around 1pm). I didn’t know what I wanted (since I wanted sourdough) and immediately she said this is all we have left in a very dismissive you need to hurry up attitude.
I was immediately taken aback by her demeanour/ and lack of caring. No recommendations. Just get up and leave. After purchasing a chocolate croissant she gave me a piece of something (sample). I asked her what it was and rather than taking a few seconds to explain she just pointed at a sign and said “the description is there.”
If you wanted to do everything wrong when it came to a first experience here you go. I’m writing this in hopes that someone who reads this will take this to heart. First impressions are everything and this was probably the worst service I have had in a...
Read moreI am reflecting on my experience with a product purchased at a Farmer's Market.
The quality of their bread does not meet expectations. I purchased a brioche loaf, only to find that the crust was excessively burnt, compromising the entire loaf. Brioche is my preferred type of bread, and I have both baked it myself and sampled it from numerous bakeries, yet I have never encountered such a misrepresentation. Although the market featured a clear display of the bread, the attendant assured me it was "perfectly toasted on the outside." I anticipated a unique variation, but instead, I was left with a burnt product for which I paid full price. When I inquired about the bread's condition, I was told it was not burnt. While the interior of the loaf was light and fluffy, it was overshadowed by the blatant disregard of the exterior, which made the inside barely edible.
I don't know if the burnt outside is the culprit or if this is just the bakery, but this was incredibly messy to deal with as well when cutting and left piles of crumbs and...
Read moreBad Dog Bread has such a great mission, and I love that it’s North Vancouver’s only decent bakery—it’s the only place I can think of to get really good sourdough loaves. The concept is so cute, and I love that they supply so many local businesses. I do wish they stocked in more places or expanded their offerings to include things like focaccia, pizzas, or some truly amazing sweet treats.
That said, I really like their little store and always look forward to what’s next for them. We get all our flour from here for bread baking because we trust their quality and know their whole wheat flour is the best, given what they’re producing.
Their sourdough flavors are all great, but the ones with olives or other added flavors are definitely the standout for me....
