49 Below Ice Cream — Restaurant in Oak Bay

These guys have always been great, even prior to their brick and mortar shop. I won a contest through them on Instagram ages ago and from then on I thought of their whole team super fondly. They are kind, creative, and make some darn good ice cream. What cemented my respect for 49 Below was when I was visiting home from Scotland in November, and they had a weekend with a bunch of awesome old school hip hop themed flavours. I was literally JUST missing it with the timing of my visit to Victoria and what did they do? Messaged me on Instagram asking me what flavours they could save for me so I could come pick it up when I got to town. And voila, walked into to the shop, was greeted by the friendliest face who knew exactly who I was?!?! (how?!) and got my yummy ice cream. You guys are great. 49 Below has become a full-blown family obsession. We’re hooked — and we’re completely fine with it.

Their flavours are unreal. Always rotating, always creative, always delicious. We count down the days until they drop new flavors and yes — my partner and I have absolutely ordered the ice cream flight so we can try them all. (Don't judge me...If you’re curious about all the flavours — it’s a totally normal and encouraged life choice.)

But it’s not just the ice cream that keeps us coming back — it’s the vibe. The staff are incredibly kind and welcoming, especially to kids. My son loves stopping in after school with his friends, and it means the world knowing he’s in a space where he’s treated with warmth and respect as he builds a little bit of independence.

We had 49 Below serve ice cream at our wedding and it was one of the best decisions we made!! Right from the beginning, Dan was so lovely to work with. He explained the options and we knew we needed to get the little ice cream dixie cups! They put stickers on each one with our names and wedding date - they were adorable. We had to have our absolute favourite flavour the Cinnamon Crunch (SO GOOD!!) and a classic, vegan chocolate - the guests were raving about it too. The 49 Below team was just a dream to work with - taking away any stress from our wedding day. I just remember turning around and there they were smiling with the freezer and all the ice cream cups!
