I had heard a lot about Jo Sushi To Go in Oakville and decided to finally give it a try, especially because I was told they have vegetarian sushi options. As someone who doesnât eat fish, I was excited to see what they had to offer.
When I arrived, I noticed a couple of people working behind the counter preparing sushi. The place was clean and well-kept. However, itâs more of a takeout spot than a dine-in restaurant. Thereâs only one small table outside, so itâs not really a place to sit and enjoy your meal.
They did have a few vegetarian options, which I appreciated. I was a little confused about what to order, so I asked for a recommendation. The lady behind the counter just said âeverything is good,â which wasnât very helpful. I ended up ordering the Veggie Dragon Roll, which was one of the listed vegetarian rolls. The description said it had cucumber, but when I got the roll, I couldnât see or taste any cucumber in it. That was disappointing and made me question the accuracy of the ingredients list.
The roll came with wasabi, ginger, and soy sauce on the side. The sushi itself was just okay. The taste was on the sweeter side, which I didnât enjoy. I also noticed a strong taste of nori (seaweed), which Iâm personally not a big fan of. Iâve had vegetarian sushi at other places that tasted much better, so I was honestly let down by this one. I finished the five pieces I ordered, but I didnât enjoy them.
The ingredients seemed fresh, but the overall flavor wasnât great. On top of that, the atmosphere didnât feel very welcoming. The staff were busy talking and laughing among themselves, and it felt like customers werenât their main focus. It just seemed like they were doing their own thing and not really paying attention.
Overall, my experience at Jo Sushi To Go was not great. The sushi was average at best, the service wasnât very friendly, and I probably wonât go back. There are definitely better vegetarian sushi...
Read moreI was in the Oakville area and, knowing it has some great food options, decided to try this sushi spot. I ordered the Jo Special Lunch and also asked about a teriyaki option for my toddler. The person taking my order confirmed they had teriyaki chicken, but when I looked for it on the menu to check the details, it wasnât listedâeven though they said it was. That was a bit confusing.
In the end, I just went with sushi. The order was fresh, but the taste was pretty averageânothing particularly memorable. I agree with another review I read: the sushi isn't bad, but it doesnât stand out, and the customer service could be improved. It feels like a place you try once but might not return to.
Also, my miso soup came barely a quarter full in a container that looked like it was meant for a much larger portion. It felt like a waste, especially since most places provide a...

As someone who grew up in Korea and has eaten ethnic Korean rolls and sushi, I am extremely impressed. These rolls taste similar if not better than the food I had in Korea.
The menu is affordable and awesome for the price. Even if you get a few rolls, itâs so big that itâll fill you up quick. They barely fit in my mouth đđđđ
The restaurant is owned by a local Korean family and the customer service was outstanding. Over the phone, they were patient and understanding. When I came to pick up my food, I had a 30 minute long conversation with the entire family â¤ď¸. The inside is extremely aesthetic, clean, and well maintained. Itâs a hidden gem in...
