This was a return visit to this location. The last time we came, the experience was much better. We made a reservation for a group of friends for a Sunday morning because we knew it would be busy at that time. Our table was promptly seated and beverage orders taken right away. The location was very busy, and the layout does not leave enough space for people waiting to be seated, so that those unlucky enough to be seated at the door constantly deal with people standing, walking and talking around them. It was quite loud the whole time we were there. The tea we ordered was lukewarm at best, and we had to send it back. 80% of our meal orders came out at the same time which is not ideal. The food, in general, was barely warm, and while one person decided to eat it anyway, another had to send part of it back for a replacement. The portions were meh. You get bigger servings, for a comparable price, at places like Sunset Grille and Panagio. The food was okay - but it's hard to really mess up eggs, toast, bacon and sausages. The homefries/hashbrowns were not the best - boiled and then fried, they were a bit mushy. The fruit side - one small piece of pineapple, orange and a single strawberry, were more decorative than substantial. I asked for no sausage with my meal only to discover one buried under the clustet of overdone, dry and crispy bacon (one of our party was asked how they liked their bacon done, in hindsight I realize I was not). Coffee refills were offered with good frequency and those of us who ordered tea were asked if we'd like more hot water. Water refills did not happen. When it came time to pay, our server hovered over our shoulders as each of us made our payment - which is awkward in today's social norm of tipping out of habit, not due to exemplary service. Speaking to members of our party on the way out, we agreed that next time we'd find a different place. Honestly, make the drive to Port Credit or Streetsville for Bobby's, hit up a Sunset Grille franchise, or better yet, support your local mom and...
Read moreWORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!! Today I’ve had the worst experience at this restaurant! We were a group of 12 and we were told that it was a 35-40 minute wait until we get our turn but by the 50 minute mark we were very frustrated and went inside to let them know that we still didn’t get notified of our turn (if we knew of this we would have gone to another restaurant because we were having a celebration). They told us it was going to be another 30 minutes! We couldn’t believe this ridiculousness and made sure they understood what they had told us and what kind of situation they put us in! They made us wait an extra 15 minute inside and when we sat down we ordered immediately (we agreed to sit our party into 2 tables instead of one). The food in one of our tables came in 40 minutes. We asked about the other table’s food 3 times!!!!! They just kept apologizing that it was really busy (even though I specifically kept an eye on the tables around us who got seated after us by 30 minutes and got served 15 minutes earlier!). It was obvious they didn’t enter our order and they just kept ignoring it. The other table’s food arrived 30 minutes later and they still forgot one order! That person had to wait an extra 15 minutes (also one person had to send their food back because the pancakes were cold, flat and drowned in extra sweet sauce and just tasted like paper and sugar). Throughout the service we had to ask for simple things like water multiple times and from multiple people before someone brought anything to us. The general run down was that we put our name around 10:55am and by the time they got all of us served it was 1:35pm. I wouldn’t have tipped at all but the person who paid didn’t skimp on the tip (the staff, cooks, and reception people didn’t deserve a cent of it). They ruined our whole experience....
Read moreWent to the Dundas location for breakfast last weekend (June 25). The location is good with ample parking. Wait times over the weekend are usually long but that is to be expected. Would recommend using their online reservation system before going - it lets you know approx how many people are ahead of you and the average wait time also. Interior of the establishment was basic and nothing fancy. They also have a patio. Venue was full when i visited and saw several people waiting outside. Had already made a reservation online before departing for the outlet and so was seated within 10 minutes.
They have a good selection on the menu. Ordered their eggs benedict (Sante Fe) with a Mango Tango smoothie which were both flavorful and arrived within 15 minutes of placing the order. Only downside was that they ran out of avocado and therefore was given guacamole as a substitute. The serving size is ample and portions are sufficient for sharing even depending on your appetite and i saw lots of families walking out with leftover bags. One definitely gets value for money.
However, for me the real litmus test of any establishment is the service. In this case i regret to note that our server (Olivia) was one of the most unenthusiastic persons i have ever come across. No smile ... did not ask if I wanted any water when seated....and once served did not bother to come back to ask if anything else was needed. Just handed me the bill and the credit card machine when processing the bill and left - as if i was non-existent in her world. Definitely needs to improve her people skills and i believe this is the responsibility of the management to ensure that their servers are trained appropriately before being put on the floor.
Overall the food and ambience is good however the lacking service left a bad taste in the...
