Would recommend nobody ever visit State & Main: Oakville. Ordered 2 Enchiladas with a bottle of wine and 2 starters, only to realize they were prepackaged, frozen and tasted horendous. We hadn't eaten all day and we were paying for it anyway so we forced it down. They literally made both of us feel sick after eating.
Then to top it off, their payment processing machines were suddenly down and they wanted us to drive to the bank across the street and pay another $8-10 in bank fees for using a different bank to withdraw money.
They declined my offer to send an etransfer to the manager and she could pay once their systems were up.
I was using the phone tap system and I only had credit cards on me so I couldn't even withdraw money and they expected me to drive 20 min to the next city to get my debit card and drive back or use cash advance on a credit card at the local bank to withdraw cash with insane fees... all for a frozen dinner I wouldn't have eaten for free if someone offered it.
And the whole time, I was still including a 20% tip to the server with every attempted transaction that failed due to connection issue.
We ended up driving 45 min to get a debit card, then finding a bank, and coming back to pay. Spent another $40 on some drinks since our night was now over because of this inconvenience and time waste. Still tipped 16%. And they not once offered any sort of discount.
I'll never go back.
Absolutely horrendous experience and the worst "food" I've ever tasted at...
Read moreMy husband and I absolutely loved this restaurant the first time we went . The service was excellent and our food was extremely good . It was also reasonably priced. I told people about this place as we had a great first experience . I took a friend the next time for a birthday celebration . It was not particularly busy but I had made a reservation anyway . We were left standing at the door and then finally were taken to a table that was not what I asked for. It was freezing cold at that particular table. We were waiting quite a while to be served . When the server finally cane over we expressed that we would prefer to be at another table . We were taken to a dirty table and had to wait for the sever to come back to clean it. We waited again for a considerable period of time before the server came back to take a drink order . After waiting, what my friend wanted to order (she has a lot of food allergies) was not available that night . We then waited again for probably ten minutes and still no drinks so we cancelled them and explained why. We weren’t really given any explanation or apology after waiting thirty five minutes and still no drinks or food . It was extremely disappointing, especially since we had to find another restaurant . Would not return...
Read more1 day shy of being open a month, we left after 1 happy hour across the street to check it out! So happy we did! Much better atmosphere then Kelseys was. Music not nearly as loud. Just right! Our server was Cale! He was fantastic! He introduced the H.H. house wines and beer. We started with calamari and then the AMAZING BANG BANG SHRIMP! You must try these! We all loved them. We ordered french onion soup which we sent back because there was more bread then broth. Our guest got the soup done properly but said it wasn't anything special. Our other guest had the butter chicken. Great presentation however she said it could've been spicier. The battered haddock fish and chips was a hit! 2 of us ordered the bison burger. It came with 2 sides. I chose caesar salad and ginger coleslaw. Loved the slaw, caesar had perfect amount of dressing(lite)& real bacon and croutons on it. The burger was a disappointment. Rather tough. I only ate a 1/3 but we also had an order of wings which were quite good! Nobody starved. All in all it was a pretty good visit but the burgers and soup really could use some attention. Thankfully we had Cale as our server, and he gave us plenty of...
