Service: 4/5 Cleanliness: 5/5 Taste: 2/5 Value for Money: 1/5 Selection of Products: 1/5
I have mixed feelings about this bakery. To begin, the customer service from the young man was great and the place was clean. No complaints there.
But regarding the quality of the products. As someone who had grown up eating Chinese bread and pastries, the baking here was amateur at best but they charge absurd prices. Compared to GTA locations, this place was around 300% more expensive for lower quality and much smaller portions.
For reference, I got the pineapple custard bread ($3?) and Swiss roll blueberry cake desert ($8.5 for 2 small pieces!). The pineapple custard bun was very poorly made. It lacked the classic pineapple crust and had little to no custard. And for the Swiss roll desert, I feel like they bought Swiss rolls from the grocery and put on some cheap whip cream on top. Paying $8.50 for 2 small pieces is absurd when entire Swiss rolls sell for $4 a roll at other bakery places.
There was also a very small selection of pastries and buns but I'm willing to let that slide as it is just starting off.
While this might be a disappointing review, I hope the owners take this into consideration. The location is great but at this time, it is a very disappointing experience from someone who is familiar with Chinese baking. I am willing to try again in a couple of months to re-evaluate my review but at this time, I do not recommend...
Read moreThis bakery so so underappreciated! It's hard to find bakeries that can replicate xiaohongshu/pinterest inspired cake designs. Their custom cakes are gorgeous and the quality is unmatched. The owner was so kind and thoughtful while discussing my order, and you can tell she's very experienced. Some elements of the design I wanted weren't possible to recreate with buttercream, but she was super sweet and worked with me to come up with alternatives!
The cake itself tastes amazing as well. I'm the kind of person to scrape the frosting off a cake, but the buttercream this bakery makes is a very light, milky-sweet flavor which I love. Not too sugary at all. The cake is super soft and fluffy as well, which is perfect since I'm not a fan of dense cakes.
The baked goods they usually sell are great too, especially the egg tarts, but they usually sell out before the store closes (a testament to how good they are haha).
Honestly, I was hesitating on writing a review since part of me wants to gatekeep this shop so that I never have to worry about my favorite goods being sold out all the time, but they really deserve...
Read moreOrdered a number of items through Uber Eats this afternoon, and they were all absolutely amazing! I couldn't believe how wonderful and squishy the texture of the Taro French Soft Bun was! It was definitely my favourite out of everything in the order. The Red Bean Cake is a close second.
I don't like it when baked goods are too sweet; which is why I think "Little Sweet Bakery" is the perfect name for this shop! The sweetness wasn't overwhelming and actually allowed you to appreciate the unique flavors of everything without your tastebuds being assaulted with nothing but sugar.
You can definitely tell they use real ingredients and are generous with the fillings, so the price without a doubt matches the quality! The pictures advertising the items was identical to what I received, too. No false advertising at all!
I will 100% order from them again or drop by if I'm in the area the next time I treat myself. If I didn't live on the other end of the city, I'd make...
