I took my parents for an early dinner today. Two of us ordered a 1 pc. haddock and fries. We were not asked to clarify what CUT of fish we wanted when we ordered. When the bill came, we were surprised that the price was not reflecting the advertised 11.99 ea but was 31.38 instead of the 23.98 as expected. When we tried to clarify this with our server, she explained that their default order is for their upgraded center-cut loin and not the fillet. She went to speak to the manager who argued with us that it was our fault for not specifying that we wanted the fillet (which is the option at the top of the menu and on the board in the restaurant, we did not even see the portion of the menu that advertised center cut lion). While I can appreciate that mistakes happen and perhaps they will aim to clarify with the customer next time which cut of fish they want, we were disappointed that it was assumed we wanted the more expensive cut without clarification. The server passed the matter on to the manager who was combative and rude and said she would "take it out of the server". When I made it quite clear that it is illegal to deduct pay from a server for an order mistake (ours or theirs for that matter) she rudely said she would deal with her later. I haven't ever posted a negative review before but I am still dumbfounded at the entire experience. I remain hopeful that the server receives her full tip and hope that any future customers do not receive such rude and discourteous service as we did today from the restaurant management. Read moreDisappointed in staff. My family has loved going to Archie's for weekly dinners for years. Archie's has been great. My kids go to the school next door and with all the construction in the parking lot at my children's school this year Archie's has been generous enough to allow family's to park there to pick up their kids quickly. Keep in mind this is 3:30 during slow hours for the restaurant. Unfortunately, today as I try to pull in their is a staff member standing in the pull in lane with a giant sign reading "Archie's Coustmers Only". I find this very rude, gave no notice to parents that this was a new rule. I could see if they were busy to save the spots for coustmers but there was only 2 cars in the entire parking lot. If they changed their stances on allowing family's to park there quickly to get their children they should of atleast informed the school so parents would be aware. Clearly they don't care about my children being picked up safely so it's time we find a new family orientated fish and chip stop. Read more10 min wait for waitress to ask what we wanted. Potato skins were rock hard on outside, could've chipped a tooth. Would have told this to our waitress with the blue hair, except she didn't ask us how things were and didn't show up for another 20 min with our fish. We waited and decided to try and salvage the potato on the inside. When waitress did show up, she looked at the plate with all the skin all over the place and said we probably didn't like them, and that the manager would take it off bill. Manager comes over and tells us she isn't taking it off the bill. I explained to her that we waited to say something, but the chick never showed up. She still refused to take it off the bill, so the waitress ended up being shafted for a tip because this managers priority was to make sure they got paid for the extremely over cooked skins. Terrible customer service and terrible potato skins. $50 meal won't be purchased here again. Ghetto area means ghetto service apparently.
