Where to begin. I belong to a group that meets at the Bayside Restaurant every week. I have been there three times since the new ownership in July and never finished a meal - they were awful! Today, I ordered classic eggs benedict. The eggs were hard boiled and the peameal and hollandaise sauce cold. I ate my potatoes while Wendy placed replacement order. The second order arrived! The eggs were perfect, but the peameal and hollandaise were luke warm. On both occasions the english muffins were not toasted. I noticed in the home fried potatoes a piece of sausage link, about 3/4 of an inch of a breakfast sausage, along with some shredded chicken or turkey. Now I wonder, on top of a sub-par meal, how clean is the kitchen? I waited an hour for plate #1 and another 10 minutes for #2 and this is what was served. Unacceptable! And the poor wait staff, Wendy was running and constantly producing apologies to patrons. One of my friends had to walk up to the bar to get a pop while water, coffee and silverware took about 30 minutes to get put on our table. Not sure if the owners know how to run a restaurant and I wonder just how long they will last. People will just stop going unless they pull up their socks, and when I say "their" I am referring to the management. The wait staff (Wendy and Tracey) are top notched 😃 How many more opportunities should...

If I could give zero stars, I would. What was supposed to be a nice breakfast outing turned into an exhausting wait that stretched well into lunchtime. We waited forever—long enough to see multiple parties give up and walk out. And honestly, we should’ve done the same.
But the worst part? Watching the staff. The waitresses were clearly trying their best, but the owner seemed more interested in barking at them than helping. It was uncomfortable, even upsetting, to witness. You could cut the tension in the room with a butter knife—no joke. Everyone looked on edge. Customers were grumbling. Staff looked demoralized. It felt like being stuck in a bad family dinner you can't escape.
I don't usually write reviews, but this experience was that bad. Save yourself the stress—Orillia has plenty of better spots. This isn't one of them.
The "new owners" need a real wake up call and treat their employees and PAYING customers with the respect they deserve. The usual wait staff was not present, I really hope they did not quit. That being said, I would not blame them...
Read moreI have come to bayside with a group of people for the last month. The service is terrible. I got there at 12:10 and I don’t think we had our order taken until close to 1:00. The waitresses are trying their best. We are at table of twenty. She took all of our orders and two people received their food and everyone else waited for another half hour before everything came out. The owners are well aware of the large group coming. They should have one waitress for just our table alone. The owner loves to stand and chat. If you are working owner that’s what it means you work. You help your staff . Bring coffee around bring water to customers. Clear tables when needed. I felt sorry for the waitresses. There is no way you should see a waitress running to serve tables. Twenty people is enough for one person to serve. I also see the same faces each Wednesday customers. They need to hire more staff and the y need to train the kitchen staff . They know our table likes water put jugs of water out relieve some of the waitresses work. I might give them one more chance but I will have to really...
