Truly elegant yet startlingly affordable, Blake's Bistro in London, Ontario, presented a decadent dining experience that more than earned a five-star rating.
Flaws were absent from start to finish! We were seated quickly and served excellently by an attentive waitress. The atmosphere was classy yet comfortable.
I had the salmon entree; a symphony of flavors that put me in a state of disbelief. Cooked perfectly, and topped with a sweet, savory, buttery amalgam, the dish was replete with the most delicious of vegetables on a bed of basmati rice. There were cherry tomatoes in stages of yellow, red and purple, each with a unique, delectable presence. There were carrots of yellow, orange and purple persuasions. The asparagus was mouth-watering and the broccolini magnificent. It was perhaps the best salmon entree I've ever had.
We started with the pot stickers appetizer, which far surpassed any reasonable expectation. A delightful, tangy sauce and a soiree of tiny potatoes (with other mystery ingredients) made this appetizer as pleasing as a roaring fire on a frigid winter's night. This six-piece is just enough for two if you're both getting an entree.
My dining companion had the BBQ chicken wrap, and described it as delicious with just the right amount of a ranchy sauce and accented with tasty bacon.
We did not order dessert, but still our waitress brought 4 small sticks of chocolate filled with a positively divine, creamy mint filling. What a way to end this meal!

Google states they are open from 6pm-10am, and we were going to rock the park and I had thought it would be perfect to visit the restaurant after we got back to the hotel from the concert that ended at 11pm. To my dismay the google hours are incorrect and the restaurant was only open from 6pm until 9 or 9:30pm. When I went to the front desk of the hotel the gentleman working was not very helpful telling me that because no one else had brought it to his attention so it must not have been an issue and when we checked in someone should have told me. However we utilized the digital check in and there was no mention of the hours on the app or in our room or even on the countless signs throughout the hotel. An hour passed and the food still hadn't been delivered. I called down to Blake's and asked what the status was. The woman who answered said she would check and call me back. She never did.
I called back again after about 5 minutes. This time someone else answered and said the food was down there and they had been calling the room. Why, if the food was ready, would they not just deliver it and not bother calling the room? Moreover, the phone never rang a single time.
They finally sent someone up with the order...but forgot the beverages. So I had to call AGAIN. The entire thing was a disaster.
The food was horrible. The nachos were tortillas from a bag with shredded cheese melted on top. The meat was ground beef in huge chunks that had been seasoned to death.
I would NEVER recommend using them for the "in-room dining" option.
Maybe their dining room experience is better. It can't...
