Captain George's Fish & Chips gardiners road — Restaurant in Ontario

I'm sorry, but my friend and I always went to this location when we really wanted fish and chips for dinner, however, the many times we have been to this location the meal we ate tonight is not the usual "we'll be back again" service. We decided to have fish and chips on our way home after visiting my sister and brother-in-law, who we have not seen in a while, it was around 6:45pm. We almost went to the Amherstview location, as they were open until 8:00pm as opposed to this location, which closes at 7pm ,but, had decided there was enough time to get to the Gardiner's Road location. It was now 7:50pm. My friend asked if we should dine in there, however, we opted to take-out. When my friend went in to order, the young lady immediately asked "what would you like to order to TAKE-OUT?". My friend and I ALWAYS prefer the HALIBUT, FRIES W/SALAD. You usually have a bit of a wait when YOU THINK you are getting a quality meal. She seemed to come out within what felt like mere seconds, while looking at her watch, as if to say " could you , maybe, be a lot earlier, next time". I am now upset we choose this location AT ALL. That's not all of it !!! When got home, in the meal was HADDOCK, FRIES W/ SALAD. WELL, to make a long story, kinda short, to say the least, it wasn't the meal we ordered, the fries were horrible and the salad was at least fresh. TO SAY I WAS DISSATISFIED, is an understatement!!! I think we just might try the AMHERSTVIEW location from now on.

If you are closed at 7pm shouldn't you close at 7pm! If you want customers to come in earlier you should post that with your hours. When I worked in the food industry, you stayed until that last customer leaves whether it's mere minutes before closing!! Atmosphere is atrocious, dirty feeling, outdated nautical theme, felt like I walked into a fish and chips joint that was abandoned in 2001.

Server sat down waited 5 solid minutes after we sat down to bring us the menu, brought us the wrong drinks when we ordered them. - these things aren’t normally a problem, if it weren’t for the fact that there were only 4 people in the entire restaurant.

We waited a good 20 minutes for our food, for what we got, it was quite a long wait. The food was worse than the decor. Way too much batter, shrimp was rubbery and flavourless, and the chips were stale. The grease and the batter had this strange off taste.

This place has potential, but it needs to use less batter, and get rid of the decor. The environment really put me off.

Was a nice meal. I arrived for lunch and I was satisfied with the meal I got.

The servers were extremely friendly and the service was quick.

Me and my friend ordered the daily special (Saturday) which included a Clam Chowder Soup and a 1-Piece Halibut with Fries/Chips.

The clam chowder was okay. It was pretty runny and wasn't thique. Adding a pinch of salt, pepper and a crushed cracker helped.

Tartar sauce was delicious; however, the fries and fish were only satisfactory. The halibut was definitely fresh, but the batter lacked a bit of flavour. Lemon helped a bit, but I wouldn't rely solely on lemon to make my meal better.
