We were an adult group of 4 plus 2 children under 10 that dined in on a Sunday near peak dinner time. The space is open with lots of seating and beautiful themed decor (firefighters). They give out free plastic firefighter helmets for kids, and mine even took a picture next to bunker gear. They had a great time.
The food is delicious and generously portioned at a fairly reasonable price. It's like Quiznos but leveled up and with better ingredients. There are a number of extra toppings to make your perfect sandwich, but some premium ones come with extra cost. I had the Brisket and Cheese sandwich with added lettuce, tomato, and jalapeños. The flavor for me was a 9/10, and the texture was 10/10. The bread is unique, not your typical Subway bread - it's lighter, fluffier, crunchy, and tasty all on its own. There are child sized sandwiches, which is nice, and the total for all 6 of us was about $80 - or $13/person, including drink.
This business is open about the fact that they donate to charity, which makes spending money feel good. I rarely, if ever, give service a 5 star review, and for the staff here, it was a solid 4... but the extra star is for the extra service to the community.
The place was clean; tables, chairs, floor, service area, hallway, and washrooms (which are accessible friendly along with wide open spaces). Service was fast and polite, and the food was fresh and well prepared.
There's a large menu that I will have to return and sample, but I highly recommend Firehouse to anyone who likes a good sandwich....
Read moreI am attaching a picture of a $15 Firehouse sub we ordered through Uber Eats (price before delivery fee and taxes and tip). You can see the amount of meat and quality of the sub for yourself. You can get an equivalent or actually better sub at Metro or Loblaws for less than one third of the price. In fact, you can get a package of four subs at Metro with more meat and toppings on each sub for less than the price of ONE eight inch sub here. The buns are better at both Metro and Loblaws, they are real bread - the Firehouse buns taste like Subway yoga mat buns. We asked for the extra free toppings on a firehouse, meatball, and Italian sub (you can specify in the Uber Eats app), in addition to the standard toppings. We asked for additional olives, caramelized onions, caramelized peppers, and these toppings were literally thrown over the top of the sub on top of the bun in its cardboard container, making it impossible to eat without a knife and fork. Malicious compliance with the toppings menu? The quality, quantity, and service here simply do not justify the price. I predict it will be closed in six months. I won't be back in any case, especially when Five Guys is...
Read moreMy experience at firehouse subs today did not start out well. I had pre-ordered my sandwich on the website with asap as the time frame, when I got to the restaurant and said I had a pickup order I was immediately criticized for having done an order first thing in the day instead of just saying they were working on it. Once I was given my order and I got back to work I discovered that my meatballs in my sandwich were still frozen. I called the store to advise them that the meatballs were still frozen and was met with not an apology but 'awesome....' when asked if I would like to talk to the owner I said yes and this is where my experience turned around. The owner immediately apologized and said they had a new person on the line and offered to remake the sandwich right away. When I explained I had already left back to work he refunded my order and offered for me to come back later in the week to have a new sandwich made on the house. Good management on ownership of a mistake can completely change an experience, I was ready to say I would never go back but the owner has...
