We recently moved to the area having come from Durham and Scarborough, so finding a place locally that meets the quality and taste we had become used to has been a bit challenging. We'd heard that Cedar Nights was the go-to place for Shawarma and MAN - the suggestion was SPOT ON!!
The chicken was perfect - not overly spiced so that the taste of the chicken was able to be showcased alongside the spices, the toum was absolutely perfect (garlic sauce), the hummus was balanced perfectly with nuttiness and acidity and the pita was soft, chewy and just the right size. The toppings were fresh, my fave always being the pickles and turnip. Tradition is not overlooked here to accommodate a North American palette - it was right up there with the food we had while living in Dubai.
We started chatting with the owner and found out he regularly travels to MY FAVORITE grocery stores in Scarborough (Arz and Adonis) and his table of jarred goods and sweets proved that. I was so happy to bring a jar of my favorite Iranian pickles home and have already eaten half the jar.
If you're looking for delicious, well priced food that is filling, fresh and comes along with proud and accommodating customer service, you need to check out Cedar Nights. Great people,...
Read moreThis has been an excellent spot for shawarma and donair for years now! Today I ordered both the Chicken Shawarma and Souvlaki meals.
The staff were very friendly both over the phone and in person, and our food was ready without any issues for pickup!
Beside the counter there was a selection of foods such as pickles, olives and rice which you could purchase which I found very cool! I am planning on returning in the next couple of days to pick up some stuff because it also looked delicious!
The food was delicious, better than I remembered back in 2011. Very flavourful, and the flavours of the ingredients mixed well together. I was able to stretch my shawarma meal for both lunch and dinner, and I was left very satisfied.
10/10, definitely recommend if you are interested in trying middle Eastern style cuisine, or...
Read moreWhat a lovely restaurant. Recently ordered the chicken shawarma pita, souvlaki dinner stuffed grape leaves and falafel for myself and a friend and was pleasantly surprised at how big the portions were, how fresh and flavorful the ingredients tasted, and how kind and generous the customer service was. All at a shockingly affordable price! So much food! And we ate up every delicious bite!!!
The owners clearly have a lot of respect and care for their restaurant and customers. And a deep love for cooking up delicious Palestinian and Mediterranean fare.
This is THE hidden gem of Belleville. I cannot recommend it more. Will be returning any time I’m in town.
Wishing much success and love to the family behind Cedar Nights! If any small restaurant in town deserves...
