I've been to a lot of curry restaurants across ON and SK, so I know good curry when I find it. This isn't it. The rice had an odd texture, almost as if it was old and cold (we ate in so it's not because we got takeout). It was neither light nor fluffy - anyone could make better rice at home in a rice cooker. The naan was ok, it wasn't bad/i've definitely had much worse, but it wasn't great either. It definitely wasn't cooked in a tandoori oven, but it was fresh. The samosas are ok - definitely had worse at other restaurants, but the samosas at walmart are better. Tamarind sauce was too watery. My main complaint is the curry. We ordered the beef vindaloo, aloo gobi, and vegetable curries. They had a nice level of spice, which was refreshing. Normally when you ask for medium spicy you get mild (if you can detect any heat at all). But the actual flavours were disappointing. The aloo gobi tasted like the cauliflower and potatoes were either steamed/boiled plain and then added to the sauce, or just thrown in the (rather watery) sauce raw. Normally they're supposed to be pan fried with spices to give them a better texture and flavour, so that was a bit disappointing. The veggie curry was basically just frozen mixed veggies in spices. It was ok, but just didn't really taste very authentic/like indian food. The vindaloo was also pretty watery and didn't taste like a vindaloo at all. It was all well seasoned in terms of salt, which is nice, but other than that the flavours were overall disappointing. Won't...
Read moreWe first tried India Curry House in 2018 after a friend recommended it, and we’ve been going ever since. Over the past seven years, we’ve experienced dedicated service and consistently phenomenal food. After our first meal, we were so impressed that we actually called the restaurant just to pass on our compliments.
The quality is always impressive. The portions are generous, and the flavours are rich, layered, and full. It's exactly what you hope for in Indian cuisine. Their chutneys are delicious too, and always complement the meal perfectly. Be patient with big orders—everything is made fresh and it's worth the wait.
Personally, we like a little bit of everything. Their beef meals are wonderful, but we also really love their lamb dishes. Some of our favourites include the lamb korma, beef korma, palak paneer, chicken curry, chicken tikka masala, mango chicken, lamb vindaloo, beef vindaloo, and of course, their vegetable samosas. Those samosas are outstanding. Every time we have a meal from there, we end up saying the same thing: once again, they’ve knocked it out of the park.
India Curry House has become a family favourite and remains our top pick for Indian takeout. We highly...
Read moreHead chef/ owner has lost his love for cooking! As a frequent flyer of this restaurant I have noticed a steady decline in quality and care put into there food. Many ingredients you can tell are frozen or canned. In the past, dishes were prepared with care and pride. I do not believe this is the case now. The sauces used to be rich and to die for.Naan bread is now a necessity to mop the water up off the plate. Please please please go back to the basics and use fresh local ingredients, take some love and care in your product, and business will make leaps and bounds for the better this I can guarantee. As a customer that has spent as much money at this restaurant as I have I dont feel I should have to beg you for your best because I will pay for your best. I am not a germaphobe by anymeans but I will say that better care also need to be taken in your bathrooms. 4.5 stars for...
