I have ordered food from Chinatown multiple times, itās been decent. Tonight however, the experience wasnāt great. I called in an order for a dinner for three and asked to substitute one of the items for another. I explained several times that it was a substitution, not an addition. My wife picked up the order and found it more expensive than usual.
Food was ok at best. (Hence the stars) But as it turns out, they added an item instead of substituting it. I called to explain the error.
There was no apology, and if I wanted my money back, Iād have to drive the food back to the restaurantā¦a very strange, and uncourteous response.
I didnāt open the item, and would have gladly returned it. However, because of health regulations, restaurants usually take food back. They then informed me that it would simply be dumped in the garbage.
In the grand scheme of things, itās a $15 itemā¦not a huge deal. But thatās not the point. Itās the principle. It says a lot about a business when they take little / no responsibility for their own error and then require you to drive back with the food in order to get a refund, only to watch the food get dumped.
Instead, they could have offered an apology, and money back as an acknowledgment of their error. This would have gone a long way to reinforce customer service, and incentivize repeat business.Perhaps they should stroll over to Abeās and take lessons on how to offers exemplary customer service.
So, now, Iāll look at other restaurant options.
(I should also mention that the previous time I ordered from Chinatown, they forgot items on my order and wanted me to drive back...

The menu was extensive, offering a plethora of authentic dishes. I decided to try the Tofu and vegetables both of which were absolutely delectable. just the right amount of spice, and the tofu was rich and flavorful. The presentation of each dish was a work of art, and you could genuinely taste the freshness of the ingredients. Additionally, the house-made dumplings were a highlight ā they were perfectly steamed and bursting with flavor. Service was prompt and attentive without being intrusive, making the entire dining experience even more enjoyable. I left china town feeling completely satisfied and eager to return.
