Dawn was great!! She asked how I was doing, and I wasn’t doing good.
“So… my day is going absolutely off the rails.”
It all started this morning when I woke up actually feeling good. Like, suspiciously good. I got out of bed thinking, “Okay Liam, today you’re gonna be productive, focused, maybe even do something responsible, like drink water or pay a bill or whatever.”
So I went to the kitchen and poured myself a fat bowl of cereal. I’m talking maximum surface area coverage. I take one bite and immediately taste death. The milk had expired—not recently, either. It was thick. Chunky. It basically auditioned to be yogurt. I spit it out so hard I almost dislocated my jaw and just stared at the bowl like it had personally betrayed me.
Anyway, I try to shake it off, right? I get dressed in what I thought was a clean, solid outfit. Confident. Simple. Black tee, jeans. I walk outside and instantly get sniped by the demon seagull that’s apparently decided I’m its lifelong enemy. Poops right on my shoulder. Direct hit. It actually made eye contact with me while it did it. It knew.
So I go back inside to change, but now I’m out of decent shirts, so I end up in this weird backup option that makes me look like a camp counselor who got fired for being too enthusiastic about icebreakers.
Still—I press on. I open my laptop to get stuff done, and boom: surprise software update. I didn’t even authorize this thing. It just took over like, “It’s update time, nerd.” And of course it’s not one of those quick updates, no. This one had phases. Like it had a storyline. Every time it hit 99%, it looped back. I watched it so long I started narrating it like a nature documentary.
So I try using my phone instead, and Siri straight up betrays me. I tell her, “Remind me to call Mom,” and she goes, “Setting a timer to find bomb.” I’m now probably on a government list. Can’t wait for that follow-up.
At this point, I’m hungry again because I never actually got to eat, so I microwave a burrito. Except I’m so mentally fried that I forget to take off the plastic. The thing explodes like a bean-filled grenade. My microwave looks like someone lost a food fight with a Taco Bell.
And honestly? I still ate it. Sitting on the kitchen floor. With a spoon. Like a raccoon who just gave up on his dreams.
And it’s not even 3 PM yet. Anyways, then I went to Chucks, and Dawn was super smiley and awesome! Great service from her, 10/10 would come back if Dawn is...
Read moreSo this was the first time going to Chucks, I took my parents out to dinner. Not sure if I would go again. Started off not so great. The waitress got our drinks and accidently poured my sons iced tea all over the table, all over the front of him and on his tablet. She was very apologetic and probably still learning so we weren't upset. Just annoyed.
My wife ordered a Caesar no spice and it came spicy. We ordered a couple appetizers and half of the pitas from the spinach dip were burnt black. I asked the waitress for more because they were burnt and couldn't eat them. She did get us more quickly. I had the smokehouse burger and it was tasty, but the patty was small. It was the same size as my sons cheeseburger from the kids meal! I'm not sure if it's supposed to be like that, or they grabbed the wrong one. There were 3 mushrooms slices on top which was pretty pathetic. The frys were ok. My wife really liked her steak and it was done correctly. She ordered extra mushrooms so I took some for my burger. My dad ordered the big chuck burger and he really liked it. 2 normal sized patties on that one. I guess I should have got that instead. Mom got chicken parma pasta and really enjoyed that too.
I knew there was an extra fee because of hearing about it online but it's pretty small on the menu. If I didn't know to look for it I wouldn't have seen it. And I couldn't see the percentage listed anywhere! Is that so they can change it without reprinting the menus? 3% is not too bad, but how do I know next time it won't be more.
We were also charged taxes even though it's tax free right now. It said on our receipt "tax 0%" then said $2 or something. Maybe from our drinks? The waitress didn't even comp our iced tea. Yes she replaced the one she dumped everywhere but I kind of expected some kind of discount. And on top of that she charged us extra for the pitas we asked for to replace the burnt ones! Only $2 or $3, but really?
With all that being said I was still surprised the bill was really good for 5 people with drinks. No where else would it be under $200. So if you want a cheap place to go with a bunch of buddies to watch the game it would be perfect, anything else I'm not too sure if...
Read moreIt was the third day after they were opened, and we decided to go in for lunch. We have been to another Chuck's opening, so we knew they were still going through training pains and coordination.
In relation to the above, we found that they were all very attentive and open to feedback from the customers. We made some suggestions and they were well received.
The food was almost perfectly cooked. We had nachos to share, and it was well layered with the toppings to chips. The specific instructions were listened to and followed. There was no burnt chips at all on the plate at all, showing the person who cooked them stayed attentive and made sure it got to the right point of melt.
The wife had the Chuck's burger and said that it was really good. The burger was not overcooked nor undercooked. She did mention that it could use a bit more spice.
I had the Porterhouse and fries and advised the kitchen of slight underseasoning and cook time. The steak could have used a bit more time and definitely more seasoning before and after hitting the grill. I did relay this to the kitchen, as they are growing and can be told not to be afraid to season.
Near the end of our meal, one of the Chuck's Corporate parties approached and asked our opinions, which we repeated the advice that we had made with our waiter, which was also directly advised to the kitchen. While we did not have any desert, we can see us returning in the future to see how they have progressed and improved as a team.
Great job on...
