Fresco’s Tap & Grill — Restaurant in Ontario

First time at fresco’s in Pembroke… We were looking for a restaurant with a relaxing environment and more than just reheated pub food but what we happened upon was so much more! The restaurant was beautifully decorated and clean with relaxing café style music in the background. The wait staff, Colleen and Marge, were incredibly friendly and appeasing and so proud of their establishment. The menu offered an abundance of homemade options from breakfast to lunch and dinner; including omelettes, salads, wraps, burgers, wings, pastas, ribs etc. The bar also had a great selection of beers on tap and bottled. I opted for the soup of the day- a delicious split pea and ham and a gyros on a pita. My husband got the Wed special- half priced wings, with 40 Creek hickory barbecue sauce. Everything was delicious right down to the pickle! We will be back! We only wish we lived closer. We are so thrilled to have discovered this restaurant with such a great atmosphere, so many food options to explore and such welcoming staff. Went with a group, the wait was long as expected. When we ordered, several of us got appetizers, I specifically ordered one appetizer to start, and specified which was to be my main. Imagine my surprise when the appetizers come out, and the waitress gives me both. She says "They made them at the same time. Sorry", why would she not tell the kitchen to hold off? And when they didn't, why not correct them and have them refire at an appropriate time? As another from our group just starts eating the appetizer, the main comes out and is placed next to her meal while she's about 3 bites into her first fried pickle. Ridiculous timing, and the waitress should have told the kitchen as such, instead of bringing appetizers and mains out all at once. Defeats the purpose. The food was basic pub fare. Some from the group had fries and it was easy to tell they were frozen and not fresh cut, they didn't taste very fresh, as is expected of frozen fries. It wasn't a great experience, but memorable in that all of us who ordered appetizers and a main, received all at once. So, if that's your thing,...

Although the restaurant was busy, there is no excuse for how poor/slow our service was. We waited 20 minutes before a waitress even came to ask for drinks at which point we also ordered our meals. We waited another 10 ish minutes for water to arrive and after waiting another 50 minutes our food finally arrived..it was cold, poorly made, and brought to us by a different waitress. After our cold food showed up we had to ask twice for utensils, twice for Ketchup, and 3 times for mustard...if our food hadn't already been cold, it sure would have been by the time we could actually eat it. By the time we left we had asked 3 different waitresses for assistance as our original waitress never returned. Our final waitress made it a point to tell us they were getting their butt's handed to them as I'm sure she could see the frustration on our faces and sarcastically told us to "have the best night ever" after we chose not to tip (tablet of 3 who are typically all great tippers). After this experience we won't be back, nor will it be a place...
