A Very Honest Review
I had no expectations coming here and am fairly new to Indian-styled cuisine however I've made some dishes from scratch: Chicken Korma, Butter Chicken, and a few more. While I'm no chef I can say I've made better. Ate a quarter of the dish and had to throw the rest out just too spicy and well... plain.
My order was -
Butter Chicken - $17 plus tax 2 pieces of Garlic Naan Bread - $6 plus tax And a side of small rice.
The Good Super nice employee Fast...but is that good?
The Bad
The PRICE is WAY TOO EXPENSIVE for the portions. This isn't five-star dining, as most of the tables inside weren't even clean.
Fresh?
There is no way it's fresh when it takes 7 minutes from order to being served. The first thing I heard was the pop of a microwave and the warming up of what seemed to be the main dish. Why you ask? Well for starters the chicken was sitting in the sauce for some time as you can see that the sauce has bled into the meat.
Mild?
For a mild dish, it's extremely on the hot side.
I hate to say it but this was not that good. Even if It was free I wouldn't change my mind but for 35 bucks?!
I NEVER leave reviews or bad comments but this was just mind-boggling, especially for the price. Do yourself a favor, buy fresh chicken breast, a jar of chicken korma sauce from no frills, or "make fresh" and you'll enjoy it a lot more.
I'm sorry but for 35 bucks which includes a tip I can say I will never eat out here again and that I'm extremely disappointed.
As for other dishes I can't speak on other dishes but this dish and its...
Read moreFour of us, who love Indian food, came to this unassuming little spot for the first time. We left having thoroughly enjoyed our meal.
It’s a small spot with only a few tables inside but a lovely patio available for warmer weather.
We ordered pakora and samosas to start and 4 main dishes (lamb vindaloo, fish curry, dal tarka, and butter chicken), two rice, and three orders of naan. The portions sizes were as you’d expect, we finished it all off with enthusiasm. (If the portions were a little larger we would have happily finished that too! The only one who wanted bigger servings was busy wiping his plate up with naan!)
All the dishes were delicious, the flavours were varied and complemented each other well. The fish curry was especially appreciated. The food was piping hot and service was excellent.
The garlic naan was a real show stopper. Fresh, hot and flavourful. Best we’ve ever had.
This is our go-to spot for a memorable meal in Pembroke.
We’ll be back to try out more from their tempting menu on their...
Read moreI really wanted to love this place, but it was just ok at best. The service was friendly, but not enough to make me want to return.
I ordered the paneer Tikka masala and it was SO oily. I also got an order of butter chicken, which was pretty disappointing. The sauce was a bit sour and lacked flavour. There was no spice or heat to the food at all. The food was also pretty expensive, especially given that there were small chicken and paneer portions (mostly sauce/gravy). Another disappointing thing was the price of the rice. There is a $3 difference with regular steamed rice vs jeera rice, which is basically an addition of cumin seeds.
I can admit that I have been exposed to a lot of authentic Indian cooking, so my expectations are higher than most; but this was just disappointing. That said, the staff are friendly and I hope this place makes some improvements and does well. I love seeing diverse cuisine in the area and would love to support a small business...
