It's all true, London Burger (LB) is "the" Mecca for the best burgers in this region. With their open kitchen concept, you can watch exactly how your order is being prepared. Take, for example, the creation of the 8oz London Burger... (that's half a pound!). A 8oz patty is slapped on a flat grill until perfectly seared on both sides before being moved to the open flame grill and cooked to perfection with that charbroiled taste. I betcha they're using 100% ground chuck! Yummy!!!
I've been going to London Burger for pretty much a decade now and have tried just about everything on their menu and it's all good. Much of LB'a success is two-fold: 1) fresh, fresh fresh ingredients; and 2) they know what they are doing, all the workers are experienced.
There have been some changes at London Burger in the last couple years. Most notably their breakfast menu is now history. I used to love going in on Saturday mornings for their breakfast special consisting of two eggs in any style, your choice of sausage or bacon and a very generous portion of their famous homefries. Those days are gone but alas, life goes on. Also, there have been some pretty cool renovations inside giving the interior a warm and cozy feeling.
When school is in, much of the clientele comes from CCH or Beal Secondary School, a popular place for the high school students . So expect good sized line ups during school hours, but the wait is worth it.
Today's treat from London Burger was a Hot Dog. Yep, and I kid you not... a Hot Dog. Something light and tasty with that char-flamed taste yet next to impossible to find in this City. Delicious, just absolutely delicious! These Hot Dogs don't get their fair share of reviews here and deserve honorable mention.
Service is exceptionally friendly in this family...
Read moreI've been a long time and loyal patron of London Burger for the past 4 years, and have never had a bad meal there. The employees there (Bill, Vivian, Nick, Natalie and Ted) are all very lovely people and - at least in my case - make every visit a pleasant experience. Portion sizes relative to cost are quite good; they've had to up their prices in the last year however, and while that might otherwise be a net loss in terms of rating, I can hardly blame them given the ridiculous price of fresh produce. For my money, they have the best burger in town, and believe me, I've had THEM ALL! Judging based on size, quality,, taste and price, the London Burger easily beats out more popular 'Gourmet Burger' (and I mean, really, what is that? Unless you're dealing with LEGITIMATE wagyu beef or something, you don't get to call your burger gourmet, IMO) restaurants in terms of 'base burger offering'. Yes, you can get fancier ingredients at The Works, or Five Guys, which all sell quality burgers don't get me wrong, but as far as I'm concerned much of that is just window dressing to hide the fact that their burgers (the meat) are really pretty average. -Special mention of their gyros- some of the best in the city, as well as their breakfasts which, price wise and portion wise, you simply cannot beat anywhere else in town. Do yourself a favor and check it out. Personal favorite - London burger with bacon and cheese. With your toppings, ask for London burger sauce!! It's amazing. Also, if you're a cynical, asocial, curmudgeon-in-training like me, best to go around 8:00 for breakfast, 1:30ish for lunch and about 5:30 for dinner to avoid the ream of high school kids who frequent the place during the...
Read moreWhat I love most about London Burgers and has me keep coming back to it is that they make their own patties. The hamburger is not store bought or factory shaped but hand made, grilled in front of your eyes at the counter and you are given more of a selection on what you want on it than Harvey's ever could handle. Their onion rings are delicious and I never get tired of getting them not that their fries are bad they are just as good. They have a good selection of ice cream if you are just looking to satisfy that sweet tooth and their menu also boasts of Fish and Chips, and other delectable tasty treats. I don't know if they still do milkshakes or not but when they did they were thick and well made. I love the service and the quickness they try to get with your order while having it custom made is no small feat. While, their seating area is a little hard, common and not the most comfortable that can be quickly forgotten with the hot food. There is always a TV on the wall to help with the company if you are alone and what I enjoy the most though are the pictures on the wall. Each picture is a time period in old London to see what used to stand or what still stands but during their better days. Their bathrooms are clean but hardly stand apart from others but one doesn't go there for the facilities anyway. I try to make it back as often as I can and I encourage you...
