I ordered their dinner for three, which was supposed to include a beef and mushroom chow mein. However, upon arriving home, I realized they had given me a beef and mushroom chop suey instead.
Naturally, I called the restaurant assuming they'd recognize the mix-up and offer a resolution. Unfortunately, I was met with surprising resistance. The person on the phone insisted that the two dishes were essentially the same, despite the clear differentiation on their menu. What baffled me further was the fact that these two dishes were listed as distinct menu items with separate prices.
As a member of the Wortley community, I've always believed in supporting local businesses. It's unfortunate that I found myself in this situation. This incident not only reflects a lack of attention to detail but also a concerning unwillingness to take responsibility for their errors.
I value honesty and transparency in any business I support, and this experience has left a bitter taste in my mouth. It's disheartening to see a restaurant that I once thought highly of resort to...
Read moreMeh. I used to order from Lotus Garden all the time but stopped in the middle of the pandemic when they stopped answering their phones- no idea what was happening during this time but I would call and the phone would just ring forever without answer or voicemail. I thought they were closed so it’s been a long time since I’ve ordered from them. Anyway we were craving Chinese food and our usual Fortune House is closed on Tuesday so I decided to call Lotus Garden and to my surprise they answered the phone. We ordered the dinner for 2, and the bobo tray. The food all tasted the same. Egg rolls were overcooked with very little filling. Chicken balls were tiny and overcooked. Fried rice tasted burnt and the container was not full. The chow mien was ok but the container was not even close to full. Worst part it cost $68! I used to love this place but I’ll skip Chinese food on Tuesdays and stick to the Little Panda which has moved a little too far away :( or...
Read moreWhat a fantastic find! Lotus Gardens is a locally owned, family-operated Chinese restaurant that truly stands out. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed—like part of the family. The owners take pride in their food and service, and it shows in every detail.
The dishes are made with love and authentic flavors. The dumplings are my favourite and tasted just like a home-cooked meal. You can tell they use quality ingredients and made it with love.
Beyond the delicious food, the warm, personal service made the experience even better. It’s rare to find a place that feels this genuine and community-focused. Supporting local family businesses like this one is always a pleasure.
I was heartbroken to hear about the recent robbery they experienced. No small business should have to go through something like that, especially one that brings so much joy to the community. But if anyone can bounce back stronger, it’s this...
