Today was Family Day. Many restaurants were closed. One exception was Magic Sushi, which can be found on Horton St and Waterloo St.
They have two menus. One is mainly sushi. For the “sushi” menu, their offerings include salads, soups, appetizers, sashimi, special rolls, classic rolls, noodles, teriyaki, special sets, party trays, and desserts.
The other menu is Asian cuisine. It has Group Dinners for two, three, four, five, or six people; as well as Deluxe Group Dinners. For example, a Group Dinner for two would come with egg rolls, sweet and sour chicken balls, beef chow mein, chicken fried rice, and fortune cookies at the price of $31.95. There is also a section fully dedicated to Szechuan dishes. The list of these runs from General Tso’s chicken, Hong Kong Diced Chicken with Pineapple, Curry Noodles with Chicken, to even Orange Chicken Hunan Style.
After getting my regular Nestea, I got a Crazy Monkey. Inside its center, it contained a banana. This roll was out there… but had a beautiful flavour. The sweetness of banana and savouriness of Japanese mayo harmonized, leaving me elated. It had yam flakes as well.
A Black Dragon followed. This special roll had avocado, cucumber shrimp tempura and was topped with eel sauce.
My final dish was General Tso’s chicken. As the menu proudly describes, lightly battered chicken was “tossed with ginger in a heavenly chili paste.” An awesome bonus were actual chili peppers.
After that Crazy Monkey roll, I can safely say Magic Sushi does more than a good job of serving their...
Read moreAt first, I just left 5 stars, but I’ve decided to update my review and share more details.
The first time I ate at Magic Sushi was in April 2023, shortly after I relocated to London. Everyone who works there is incredibly humble and respectful, which makes every interaction enjoyable. Since that first visit, I simply haven’t been able to stop ordering sushi from this place.
I’ve always loved making sushi at home and used to do it frequently, but since discovering Magic Sushi, I’ve completely stopped. Unfortunately, I don’t get many opportunities to visit the restaurant in person, but I make sure to order from them every week.
One time, I ordered from another place instead, and while it wasn’t terrible, it just didn’t compare to Magic Sushi. Their quality, freshness, and flavors are unmatched.
I wish I had pictures of their sushi and rolls to show you how beautifully they’re made and how generous they are with the fish, but I always end up eating everything so quickly that I forget to take photos!
Keep up the amazing work, Magic Sushi—you’ve set the bar so high that no one else...
Read moreThis is absolutely the best, freshest, most delicious sushi i have ever had. The portions were very impressive and the freshness is almost unbelievable. Presentation was devine i mean our thick, fresher-than-when-it-was-living sashimi came garnished with flakes of gold. Literallly gold flakes.
The place is absolutely immaculate. The menu is simple just everything you need, nothing you dont. The price was more than fair, especially for the excellent quality of the food and experience overall. It was less than 40$ for dinner for 2 which included: two miso soups, 6 tempura shrimp, a 6 piece avocado salmon roll, a 6 piece california roll, 6 pieces of gold plated salmon sashimi, 6 fried dumplings and bottomless green tea. Never seen fresher caviar, ever.
Finally the service was lovely. Our server was gracious, welcoming and friendly. The atmosphere was relaxed but classy. I think its ideal for larger dinners, both professional and personal occations, formal and less so. Neutral but warm setting. Im coming back...
