The tacos al pastor dont taste like they do in Mexico. The taco plates come accompanied with totopos (fried tortilla chips), 3 slices of cucumber, and one slice of lime. The lime is barely enough for 3 tacos on the plate. The totopos need a side of beans or guacamole; otherwise, its just tortilla chips on the side of your plate - random. The carne asada meat is not cubed as the photo in the menu showed. The Jarrito sodas are $5 each and cans of Coca Cola $2.50. The food didnt take too long to arrive. There was a cook, a waiter and another person helping behind the counter. The table next to us ordered a mojito and a margarita. The margarita was delivered while the waiter sat down to eat with his friends abandoning our table, the table that ordered drinks and 2 more tables. The waiter ate his food, while the non-cook employee attended the cash machine and other items while the table next to us was visibly annoyed that they hadn't received their second drink ; they wanted to cheers together. We werent attended to after our food was finished. We had to get up and ask for a take out box. The bathroomz didn't have paper towels in the towel dispensar or soap. There was a little table before the resteoom doors that had random packa of paper towel and room scent diffusers. The physical location is great for downtown. I wish someone would invest in renovating it and making it great because right now its not. Eating at a restaurant with unattended restrooms and bad service when paying $100 for (4 meals + 3 drinks) is not something I believe Londonders should be willing to put up with. I wouldn't mind paying $100 for our meal had the service been great and the bathrooms clean and stocked. If you want to run a decent restaurant, put in the effort to make people want to come back. I will not...
Read moreI had low expectations about this place given the somewhat generic name, but I noticed that they had chilaquiles on the menu when we were passing by, so we stopped in for a late lunch. I was pleasantly surprised to see lengua (beef tongue) as an option for the tacos and tostadas! The chilaquiles were the genuine article and very good, and I enjoyed the lengua tostada as well. The salsas were also the real deal, not the chunky sweet store-bought stuff. It would be nice if the food was served on reuseable plates instead of take-out containers, but I am guessing that this saves on washing costs. Staff was friendly and helpful. Decor was not exceptional (basically the original Prince Albert diner with a few Mexico-themed knick-knacks hanging around), but the food more than made up for it. This is a gem of a place and a genuinely pleasant surprise that made up for a depressing walk past the boarded-up storefronts...
Read moreThe hype made us try it. We have tried every Latin American restaurant in London, and we have also had the pleasure of enjoying Central America and Latin American cuisine at the source. We tried the carnitas, chicken, pastor, birria, and cochinita tacos, served with a side of red and green salsa, limes, radish, and cucumbers The pastor was void of pineapple. The carnitas tasted of spoiled pork fat. The chicken bland. The birria taco had the best flavor and were moist. However, cheese was tasteless, and the tacos weren't fried or crispy, we did not receive any consomme. Cochinita is probably my favorite fillings for a taco. Sadly, this one was dry, and spice blend didn't feel slow cooked into the meat. Some pickled red onions might have helped. Almost all the tacos lacked salt and moisture. I had high hopes. I left...
