Museum London & Art Gallery, that should be its title to avoid disappointment. My visit on Canada Day convinced me that it should be closed until the renovations are completed. There is an excess number of small remote museums in the city (Some may say 'surplus') and this is illustrated by the desolate, empty, spaces on all levels here. I wonder if there is an 'association' of the London museums that could share artifacts or, perhaps (as it seems) there is a 'conflict' of museums closely guarding their small collections ... to the publics detriment. I suggest that a dynamic curator should be hired to bannish the experimental art to the London Library (until a dedicated facility is found) and search this historic city, by way of newspaper and radio, for valuable artifacts hidden away in attics and double garages. Last, but not least, why is the cafe closed for most of the time (Who negotiated that contract?). Why not have a moment for 'afternoon tea', with a piano player (Noticed, today, in a isolated corner of the 3rd level)...
Read moreMuseum London is great. The exhibits are always really cool. I do wish that they had more interactive exhibits but it's not a complaint. For Families with young children they have free arts and crafts in the basement on Sundays. What a fantastic local and free resource for London Families! I remember doing this when I was a kid and now I routinely bring my kids here and they love it. They also really like exploring around and checking out the art. My only complaint is that when you go with your kids the security guards kinda follow you around ensuring that they don't touch anything. IMO it's silly to put out an old machine with levers and buttons and then stick a sign on it saying "don't touch". But none the less it's still a really cool place to go from time to time and the view of the forks from the lounge is...
Read moreI stumbled across this museum while looking for something to do in London. With its high Google rating, one would think that this museum was full of artifacts and Canadian Culture. Their website boasts that the museum is filled with over 45,000 artifacts. While walking through though, it was very clear that there were actually very few artifacts throughout the museum. Most had been replaced by a picture of the artifact and attached to the wall via vinyl sticker. A picture is not the same as an artifact. This led to a very underwhelming experience. The paintings were very nice, and the African culture exhibit was interesting, but it still felt like they could have used the spaces more effectively. Overall this museum lacked the depth to keep myself entertained for more...
