Excellent food! The food is definitely spicy, but I expected that and we were also advised the dishes we chose were spicy. Don't expect mild spice like inauthentic Indian food.
We ordered the chicken vindaloo and lamb vindaloo which were quite spicy, but we both still enjoyed it. We had them with the saffron rice and coconut naan. The naan was delicious and both meats were tender and juicy.
Service was prompt, friendly, and courteous. Water was given to us immediately and extra dishes cleared from our table to make more room. We had a nice conversation with the owner after we ate as well. We were given a takeout container and bag for our leftovers.
We didn't realize until afterwards that carbs were not included with our meals, but the menus do state which meals do come with additions in hindsight.
I think any 1-star reviews are unrealistic, but everyone's experience is different. The food was high quality and extremely flavorful if nothing else.
We had a nice time and enjoyed the food. We will definitely return to try...
Read moreMy goodness, this is excellent fare. We were visiting St Mary's for a bit. Hungry we went to Naina's with low expectations as we've been terribly disappointed with the quality of food in rural areas, especially ethnic food. Well! Naina's has proven to be an outstanding exception. The Mango Lassi is the best I've had in decades, as good as what I had eons ago in Little India in Toronto. The Papadums were fresh, and the oil in which they were fried was also fresh. The plain Naan and garlic Naan were excellent, had good texture and flavour, and were freshly made. The Butter Paneer Masala was excellent, I added a touch of sugar, but my hubby loved it as is... I like that it's suited for those who don't like it a bit sweet and it's easily adjustable for those who do, like myself; I bet the Paneer was made in-house as it was tender yet firm, moist, and perfectly wonderfully fresh. Service was friendly. We ordered takeout. If we're ever in the area again we will absolutely eat here again!! Excellent...
Read moreWent here for a birthday with 10 guests. Upon arrival, we quickly realized there may be potential issues as the server was unable to bring us water. The restaurant was not busy. Before the remaining guests arrived, I asked the server if she was able to "handle" the table. She assured me she was. This was not the case. I ended up having to more than once get water for the table, and some ordered drinks did not arrive. I witnessed other tables leave as a result of the lack of service. Additionally, the mains do not include the carbs (rice, naan, etc) that you would think would be included for the prices charged. The place is currently not licensed, and 3 of the 10 patrons were children. The bill came to just under $350. I question who is writing reviews that are positive as our experience seems quite far off what others have written. Food itself was good. It's not great, but it's certainly good. Due to the price and complete lack of service, I would recommend...
