Used to love the food, and always have for years! Probably was one of the best in London. Months after writing my below review, I caved and ordered again last week, because its generally pretty good. So I am updating my review because they did something sooo ridiculous and obvious, I was quite upset. So a lot of people love the spicy sauce there, and it comes on many things, but I find when I get delivery, it drowns in it. So I simply just asked for EASY on the spicy sauce. Thats it. But my order shows up not only drowning in spicy sauce, but my most expensive fancy roll, (it was a version of one of the dynamite types), comes soaked in it! When it doesn't even come with! Like not on the menu as spicy, not an ingredient listed, but it shows up with it. I call the restaurant to politely complain, and the girl is telling me how she remembers my order, because they all talked about it?? Huh? What does that even mean? And it sounds like she's trying not to laugh, while apologizing and hesitating to answer. So this now feeds into my quiet head theory that this was done on purpose. Now I'm sure it was. She says she can't do anything about it, they no longer deliver directly (see below my beef on that), and unless I drive there for new food, nothing can be done. But clearly I ordered delivery for a reason. And Uber eats is ignoring my claims and takes far to long to even respond when its timely to my family's hunger. So basically no solution.
This review below was from when I switched them from 5 stars to 3, beginning of covid 2020, and before the delivery companies take over: Love this place 90% of the time. But Recently they switched from delivering themselves, to Ubereats. WTH is all I can say.. a 67 dollar order with delivery close in town, became 111.67 because everything was a buck or 2 more with Ubereats, then there is a 10% service fee, plus delivery And Tip. Why did you switch Ozen?? This message is for you. Good loyal customers are more happy to order with Your delivery, and support You Directly. But now, loyal customers pay 40 or 50 dollars MORE by going with Ubereats. They have service fees etc. Why not just go back to using your own delivery? You would save. It was much better and more affordable for consumers, AND your business, if you don't have to pay a large company.. I also want to mention; I understand price increases everywhere because of this pandemic. But this is two completely different menus and prices when eating There or getting takeout. So it's specifically about the rates when using Uber eats. Of all of my many takeout orders during the first 2 months of covid, I was gauged the most by this specific place I used to love... (Also because of Uber...
Read moreAlthough the food was good.. I was completely turned off by the experience we had last week. I called ahead and asked if it were ok for us to come in at 9pm for 3 of us.. and whomever I spoke to on the phone said it was fine. We showed up, we were promptly seated upstairs.. also fine. Our waitress was friendly.. but this is where it goes down hill. We ordered in a timely fashion.. some of the requested menu items were unavailable (it happens..) we start eating our food and then the music is shut off. And then the servers begin cleaning around us. And then other servers start complaining in Korean that we are still here… (our friend dining with us is Korean and informed us of this.. even though it was blatantly obvious) As we are nearly done our food, the waitress asks if we can settle the bill so she can do her cash out.. and THEN just as we’re nearly finished.. we are given boxes and asked to leave. If they didn’t want us dining they shouldn’t have let us come. I feel we were cheated out of an enjoyable meal and completely rushed out when we weren’t being slow at all. Before leaving I let the entire team know about how I felt and that I will not be returning. If the team did not want to stay a little passed 10pm they should not have sat us for dinner. Thanks for taking our money and being extremely rude by talking about us in Korean. We will not...
Read moreWe went for an early dinner and sat in the back. It wasn’t that clean…dirty floor and table next to us (which remained that way for quite a while). We ordered miso soup, avocado salad, a mixed platter for 2 and a couple of a la carte sushi. There were no hot drinks available (tea) because the pot was broken, so we settled for water. The avocado salad was fresh and the dressing was tasty. Miso soup was just broth and a bit on the too salty side. Next came the a la carte sushi rolls…the presentation was minimal…just sushi and no wasabi or pickled ginger and they were unevenly rolled and cut. Not much of a feast for the eyes. The soy sauce on offer was the basic, way too salty standard. In the flavour department, the sushi were was no better in flavour than bento to go. We waited a long time for the sushi/sashimi platter…turned out that it never arrived. Staff apologized and offered to make the dish but we decided to go elsewhere. An odd thing was that a large, clear container of miso soup was passed from the kitchen to the wait staff on the floor ostensibly to pour out into bowls at a serving station rather than in the kitchen (it’s a small place, but I would think this practice could be a potential health and safety concern). Not a great experience…and this place was recommended by two people (who likely like...
