Visiting Eldon House is a unique and interesting educational experience and the tour guides are fantastic. I feel that the educational factor could be improved by not glorifying the Harris family or the colonial time they lived in. I realize that the tour guides are not going to be negative about the Harris family and I don't think they should. However, they also tend to view them through rose colored glasses. It would be more educational for the public to understand how these colonists lived in luxury on occupied Indigenous land and had all their needs cared for by a veritable army of servants who didn't get to live a very good life. Perfect spot for high tea, and i have been having tea there since 1990. Unfortunately this year they have a bakery putting on tea, and its awful. Tried to book for 3 days and no one would answer the phone. We dropped in Sunday and were the only ones there. The scones were hard and small, and still frozen in the middle. There were 2 tiny squares (total, not each) for 2 of us, and 4 small strawberries. When i told my concerns to the owner, she was defensive and rude. Couldn't be more...
