This is the best pizza you will have between Toronto and Montreal (and there are few and far between places in those cities whom can rival it). The crust is perfectly neopoltian, the toppings are creative, yet still pay attention to the traditional toppings without getting too crazy. Ingredients are incredibly fresh.
The drink menu is nicely selected and not overly crowded, the desserts are just right, and the specials that utilize the seasonal ingredients in the area are excellent.
Prices on the menu are very fair (most wood oven pizza places charge you an arm and a leg for half the effort and amount) and the pizzas you get leave you full yet somehow still trying to squeeze in the last slice. Toppings are plentiful and the size of the pizza is excellently large (for a neopoltian style). A Margareta runs you 15$ while the priciest meat option runs you 19$.
In terms of staff, they're incredibly nice but not groveling and faking kindness for tips (thank god). The hyper casual vibe of the place makes it a go to staple for a weekly eat, and very reminiscent of actual neopoltian eatery staff.
In terms of negative reviews here, most are unimpressed with the style of pizza (likely expecting the hut variety) and shocked that neopoltian crust does not travel well and cools quickly. Also somehow, shocked that it's thin?
The only thing I would like to see is the use of some traditional cheeses: buffalo mozzarella, fior de latte, etc. Also a second salad option on the permanent menu would be choice (Caprese?). Overall, one of the few top tier gems in Kingston that you can eat at...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreYummy Food, Yucky Service. I visited Pizza Monster with some friends in February and we had a pretty good experience. The ambience is really nice; there were pretty plants and LED signs, plus a wood burning pizza oven, and they all gave the restaurant a really chill, cozy atmosphere. We ordered a caesar salad to start, and it was honestly one of the best Iāve ever had (definitely recommend). For our mains, we shared a cacio e pepe pizza as well as a margarita pizza, both of which were delicious. The cacio e pepe had the perfect amount of cheesiness, and the tang of lemon added the right amount of zest.
Unfortunately, however, our server lacked customer service skills and came off as really passive aggressive. He was very blunt, lacked manners and slammed our food down when delivering it to our table. Everyone picked up on his negative vibe, and since we were nothing but polite and respectful, Iām not sure where this came from. Despite his attitude, we managed to have a great time, since the food really made up for the poor service. We were sat at around 6:30, and the restaurant was pretty much empty, but when we left about an hour later it was starting to fill up, so if you want to make sure you get a seat I recommend going before 7. All things considered, I would return next time Iām...
