The Grand theatre is an amazing piece of history. Theyve kept it in great shape without making it feel like it's a new modern theatre. As a tall person, a huge plus for me is that in the orchestra seating there is plenty of room to sit comfortably.

I have only been here once and my only complaint is that I wasn't happy with how they dealt with a loud group during the show. They let a group in late, then there was an issue with seating the group so they pulled out flashlights and talked at a normal volume instead of whispering. Then when the group got louder and was swearing, the theatre staff did nothing to address it. The performer on stage paused their act, turned on the lights, walked up to the individual and asked him to shut up.

At the beginning the security guy asked a middle aged drunk woman to put her phone away, which I loved...the only issue is the next 20 times she opened her phone to look at plenty of fish, nothing was done.

I had a bad experience with the phone distraction in front and the loud distraction behind. But I still will give 4 stars because the theatre itself is great and I haven't been there enough to say if this happens often. I have a feeling it was just an unfortunate occurance because of a very disrespectful crowd. I just wish it was...

In the last few weeks, we've been at the Grand Theatre a couple of times. We enjoyed the Bare Naked Ladies performance immensely and were able to introduce the grandkids to Peter and the Wolf a few days later. Over the past forty years, I wouldn't be able to add up the numerous times we have been to the Grand to enjoy ourselves.

We're very fortunate to be able to enjoy the Grand Theatre. It is City run enterprise and has professional and knowledgeable individuals who select the performances and run the Theatre. Ticketing, including seat selection, works very well in the internet age. Renovations have also worked out very well. The Grand is also centrally located in downtown Kingston where, before or after a performance, the patron can enjoy a wide choice of great restaurants and bars.

My only caveat would be to avoid using the adjoining parking garage. You feel trapped after a performance, especially when someone's exit ticket...

I thought I had reviewed this theatre some time ago but apparently not. My wife & I have been attending events at "The Grand" for man decades now and like the newer version as it is more comfortable with better sight lines. We attended a performance last night with some friends and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. There are complaints about the lack of leg room but for us it isn't bad. My only complaint is washroom facilities could be a bit larger. Parking and accessibility is a-one and you don't have to walk far from the parking garage to be indoors. The theatre is good shape and the staff are pleasant, friendly and knowledgeable and take pride in the Grand. We have been to numerous concerts and platys over the years and are going to another concert in November. We are really looking forward to attending...

The ushers and staff made this experience so stress-free for me and it was my first show in over 12 years. Being on ODSP limits my financial abilities to be able to support or experience the arts so I jumped on an offer of Nathaniel Dett's Harriet Tubman Opera. Luck blessed me. I was by myself and have severe PTSD and CPTSD. To say they alleviated my symptoms while there is an understatement. I smiled ear to ear for the rest of the night. The theatre is lucky but YGK is luckier to be greeted with such vibrancy. Thank you, Kingston Grand. An experience I will never forget. I wish I could do it again to even just take in the architecture of the structure. It was an embodiment for me, embracing all the spirits who worked and built that space over the years of its reign. I am still in awe. Mad Love ❤️

The seat rows in the balcony are far too close together. I'm 6'2" tall and was uncomfortable the entire time. You should at least note in the ticket purchase section that certain areas don't work for people over about 5'10". Thankfully, my coat helped pad my shins though at the cost of blood flow... Otherwise, it was really nice. Close to inexpensive parking, nice staff, nice looking venue.
